Our home is a charming Victorian 3 bedroom / 3 bath house in downtown Santa Barbara. This recently remodeled home has one large double bedroom upstairs with a heavy curtain divider, nice views and a balcony, a bathroom and an open office area. When the curtain is closed it's two separate bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other a twin, each with its own door. Great for families. A twin foam mattress, queen air bed and fold-up cot are also available for placement on the floor to accommodate more than 7 guests.
Downstairs is an open layout living/dining/kitchen with bath, the master bedroom with full Jacuzzi tub bath and the parlor / front room with a queen-sized pull-out sofa bed which can be closed off from the rest of the downstairs to serve as a 3rd (or 4th) bedroom. Hundred year old hardwood floors, beamed ceilings and bay windows, remodeled kitchen with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. Fully furnished, wireless internet, cable TV and utilities included. Use of bikes and surfboards also included. We share the lovely enclosed backyard with pond, patio, barbecue, grapevine arbor for shade and corner bench under the avocado tree. Pets could be OK -- need to discuss and make a special offer to include $25/night pet fee.
Guests have access to bikes, surfboards, boogie boards, backyard and barbecue.
We love to interact with our guests, as much or as little as they prefer.
If you run out of eggs or need more cream for your coffee the neighborhood market is just across the street. There are two beautiful parks, one with the fantastic "Kid's World" playground, within 5 blocks.
It’s a 5 minute walk to the Arlington Theater and the downtown State St. shops and restaurants (Sushi, Greek, italian, California Nouveau cuisine), a 15 minute ride to the Old Mission, beach, harbor or pier by bike or to UCSB by express bus. Bus stops just around the corner. Off-street parking is available for 1 car. The driveway is shared with the renters in the other house on our property. Please park far enough forward along the left side so that there's room for another car to park on the right. For short periods (loading and unloading) you can use the whole driveway (space for 3 cars). Parking is allowed on the street right in from of the house and there's usually no problem finding a spot.
Recycling - we do have a separate container for these items. It's a white woven basket next to the back door.
Please, no smoking anywhere on the premises.
We're located in a quiet residential neighborhood, so note that this is not the place for wild parties -- no excessive alcohol consumption or dance volume music after 11 pm, please.
We would appreciate your taking off your shoes in the house to preserve the floor -- it scratches easily, especially from beach sand.
The master bath is primarily for bathing and its wooden floor is not waterproof! If you use the hand shower please be careful and make sure to dry the floor. For showering please use the other bathrooms.
Nice snd cozy house with a nice backyard and with all what you need and in ealking distance to downtown. One may need to point out that the two of the rooms upstairs are only separated by a curtain which I do not remember is said in the description. But overall a great house.
We had a wonderful stay at Leo's home. The location was excellent, communication with Leo was a breeze, and the space was perfect for a family vacation. We especially enjoyed the kitchen and back patio -only wish we could have stayed longer.
The property was just as advertised, newly renovated and very clean and attractive. We were only two blocks from State Street, the main street in Santa Barbara. A coffee run in the morning was an easy five minutes away. The neighborhood is quiet and residential.
The beach is a short drive away. A lovely stay, we would definitely come back again!
We stayed in Leo and Daniela's house for three nights during summer 2015. As a family with 3 ( teenage ) kids, we enjoyed the space and excellent location. The house is lovely, warmly decorated and it breathes a welcoming atmosphere. The garden is shared, with guests from the nextdoor house, which in our case turned out fine. Daniela and Leo are welcoming hosts and they are around and come by if needed. Loved the avocado tree!
I loved the house. Very unique, beautiful kitchen with great appliances and plenty of dishes and cookware. Upstairs bedroom is perfect for about 5 kids that don't mind sharing a large room. Master bed and bath are beautiful. Extra bedroom in the entry room, sofa-bed, is only ok, but it provides another room with some privacy. The backyard is wonderful, but be prepared to share it with next door.
Leo is a great host, but be aware that he, his family and anyone that is in the neighboring house will become part of your vacation. If you want uninterrupted solitude this is not the house for you. If you want a fun, quirky, unique time in downtown Santa Barbara I highly recommend this one.
The house also comes with a resident cat, very friendly but might be a problem if you are allergic.
Downtown is just a few steps away. The beach is probably a bit far to walk, but makes an easy bike ride.
We spent a wonderful time at Leo's beautiful Santa Barbara town house. It's centrally located just two blocks from State St. In the evenings we enjoyed sitting on the patio under the Avocado tree. We would have loved to stay longer and highly recommend Leo's place.

A native of Santa Barbara, after getting a degree from UCSB in ECE, I worked as an engineer in the Silicon Valley for a number of years before moving to Germany, where I lived for 8 years before returning to Santa Barbara. I met my wife, Daniela, in Germany and our daughter was born there. I currently teach ESL at Santa Barbara City College and my wife teaches German at Westmont College. Our daughter is now starting high school and we also have a son going into 5th grade. We love to travel to experience other cultures and the wonders of nature. Some of our most memorable recent trips were 3 weeks backpacking through the Yucatan Peninsula and another 4 weeks taking our VW camper up to Yellowstone and back.
