Our home is a charming Victorian 3 bedroom / 3 bath house in downtown Santa Barbara. This recently remodeled home has one large double bedroom upstairs with a heavy curtain divider, nice views and a balcony, a bathroom and an open office area. When the curtain is closed it's two separate bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other a twin, each with its own door. Great for families. A twin foam mattress, queen air bed and fold-up cot are also available for placement on the floor to accommodate more than 7 guests.
Downstairs is an open layout living/dining/kitchen with bath, the master bedroom with full Jacuzzi tub bath and the parlor / front room with a queen-sized pull-out sofa bed which can be closed off from the rest of the downstairs to serve as a 3rd (or 4th) bedroom. Hundred year old hardwood floors, beamed ceilings and bay windows, remodeled kitchen with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. Fully furnished, wireless internet, cable TV and utilities included. Use of bikes and surfboards also included. We share the lovely enclosed backyard with pond, patio, barbecue, grapevine arbor for shade and corner bench under the avocado tree. Pets could be OK -- need to discuss and make a special offer to include $25/night pet fee.
Guests have access to bikes, surfboards, boogie boards, backyard and barbecue.
We love to interact with our guests, as much or as little as they prefer.
If you run out of eggs or need more cream for your coffee the neighborhood market is just across the street. There are two beautiful parks, one with the fantastic "Kid's World" playground, within 5 blocks.
It’s a 5 minute walk to the Arlington Theater and the downtown State St. shops and restaurants (Sushi, Greek, italian, California Nouveau cuisine), a 15 minute ride to the Old Mission, beach, harbor or pier by bike or to UCSB by express bus. Bus stops just around the corner. Off-street parking is available for 1 car. The driveway is shared with the renters in the other house on our property. Please park far enough forward along the left side so that there's room for another car to park on the right. For short periods (loading and unloading) you can use the whole driveway (space for 3 cars). Parking is allowed on the street right in from of the house and there's usually no problem finding a spot.
Recycling - we do have a separate container for these items. It's a white woven basket next to the back door.
Please, no smoking anywhere on the premises.
We're located in a quiet residential neighborhood, so note that this is not the place for wild parties -- no excessive alcohol consumption or dance volume music after 11 pm, please.
We would appreciate your taking off your shoes in the house to preserve the floor -- it scratches easily, especially from beach sand.
The master bath is primarily for bathing and its wooden floor is not waterproof! If you use the hand shower please be careful and make sure to dry the floor. For showering please use the other bathrooms.
Leo was very friendly and took the time to make sure we had everything we needed. The house was beautiful inside and out- breakfast out in the backyard and bikes available to ride down to the Funk Zone just made our Santa Barbara trip ideal. Little deli/store on the corner and proximity to state street was very convenient too. Would highly recommend staying here!
This house is in an excellent location near downtown Santa Barbara, a short walking distance from the restaurants, bars and shops of State Street. It is also walkable, about 2 miles, to the beach and waterfront at Stearn’s Wharf.
The house is quaint with an eclectic interior and backyard. The driveway and backyard are shared with the rental house next door which, if both houses are occupied, can decrease the amount of privacy of each home, especially since the backyard is shared by both homes. Further, driveway parking must be negotiated between the parties. The backyard features seating, a wonderfully large shady avocado tree, koi pond and BBQ. Those with cat allergies should be aware that there is a resident outdoor cat.
The interior features nice stainless steel kitchen appliances. The downstairs bath, attached to the bedroom, is beautifully renovated with a bathtub and detachable shower head. The upstairs bedroom features a curtain dividing the room rather than a true wall which reduces privacy for couples; one side has a queen, the other a twin bed.
We had a great stay at Leo’s house in Santa Barbara. The house is lovely, very spacious and filled with light, and we really enjoyed spending time in the backyard. It is also very well located, a short walk from the Public Market and State St. Leo was a very helpful and responsive host, and he was there in person to meet us and show us around the house. Would definitely recommend
I cannot say enough good things about Leo and his gorgeous house in Santa Barbara. My friends and I had the best time and Leo was very helpful the entire time. He was easy to reach when we had questions and very gracious with his time and his home. And what a home! The backyard is breathtakingly gorgeous and the interior is so homey we decided to stay in both nights! The moment we are back in Santa Barbara, we would love to stay here again!
We very much enjoyed our stay. The house was very well stocked and comfortable. We also enjoyed the lovely patio, charming cottage decor and the ideal location. Leo was a wonderful host.
Leo was there at the house when we arrived. He gave a quick tour, but pretty much showed us all we needed. The house is beautifully renovated and the backyard is a private paradise. The house is set back from a semi-busy street near downtown. According to the host, the family lives part-time in the house and part-time in another small house on the property. We are a family of five. The 3 kids stayed upstairs in the large bedroom (there is a curtain divider to separate into two rooms if desired) and my husband and I stayed in the downstairs master. The mattress was comfortable. At night we enjoyed some wine in the backyard under the giant avocado tree strung with lights. The boys had fun playing several of the board games they have available to guests. There is also a friendly cat on the property. As asked, we stripped the beds and put bedding and towels in the hamper in the morning. Overall, it was a good experience staying at this house. Unfortunately we were only there one night and didn't get to take advantage of the bikes and beach items the hosts make available to guests.
Leo is great! He met us at the house and showed us around. The house is lovely. It was spotless and pretty. The kitchen was great and had a convenient washer and dryer. The courtyard outside was very lovely.
There were 2 seating areas which worked well and one bedroom and 2 baths downstairs and one bedroom/bath upstairs. This was our first time on air bnb and it couldn't have been better!

A native of Santa Barbara, after getting a degree from UCSB in ECE, I worked as an engineer in the Silicon Valley for a number of years before moving to Germany, where I lived for 8 years before returning to Santa Barbara. I met my wife, Daniela, in Germany and our daughter was born there. I currently teach ESL at Santa Barbara City College and my wife teaches German at Westmont College. Our daughter is now starting high school and we also have a son going into 5th grade. We love to travel to experience other cultures and the wonders of nature. Some of our most memorable recent trips were 3 weeks backpacking through the Yucatan Peninsula and another 4 weeks taking our VW camper up to Yellowstone and back.
