Our home is a charming Victorian 3 bedroom / 3 bath house in downtown Santa Barbara. This recently remodeled home has one large double bedroom upstairs with a heavy curtain divider, nice views and a balcony, a bathroom and an open office area. When the curtain is closed it's two separate bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other a twin, each with its own door. Great for families. A twin foam mattress, queen air bed and fold-up cot are also available for placement on the floor to accommodate more than 7 guests.
Downstairs is an open layout living/dining/kitchen with bath, the master bedroom with full Jacuzzi tub bath and the parlor / front room with a queen-sized pull-out sofa bed which can be closed off from the rest of the downstairs to serve as a 3rd (or 4th) bedroom. Hundred year old hardwood floors, beamed ceilings and bay windows, remodeled kitchen with granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. Fully furnished, wireless internet, cable TV and utilities included. Use of bikes and surfboards also included. Lovely enclosed shared backyard with pond, patio, barbecue, grapevine arbor for shade and corner bench under the avocado tree. Pets could be OK -- need to discuss and make a special offer to include $25/night pet fee.
Guests have access to bikes, surfboards, boogie boards, backyard and barbecue.
We love to interact with our guests, as much or as little as they prefer.
If you run out of eggs or need more cream for your coffee the neighborhood market is just across the street. There are two beautiful parks, one with the fantastic "Kid's World" playground, within 5 blocks.
It’s a 5 minute walk to the Arlington Theater and the downtown State St. shops and restaurants (Sushi, Greek, italian, California Nouveau cuisine), a 15 minute ride to the Old Mission, beach, harbor or pier by bike or to UCSB by express bus. Bus stops just around the corner. Off-street parking is available for 1 car. The driveway is shared with the renters in the other house on our property. Please park far enough forward along the left side so that there's room for another car to park on the right. For short periods (loading and unloading) you can use the whole driveway (space for 3 cars). Parking is allowed on the street right in from of the house and there's usually no problem finding a spot.
Recycling - we do have a separate container for these items. It's a white woven basket next to the back door.
Please, no smoking anywhere on the premises.
We're located in a quiet residential neighborhood, so note that this is not the place for wild parties -- no excessive alcohol consumption or dance volume music after 11 pm, please.
We would appreciate your taking off your shoes in the house to preserve the floor -- it scratches easily, especially from beach sand.
The master bath is primarily for bathing and its wooden floor is not waterproof! If you use the hand shower please be careful and make sure to dry the floor. For showering please use the other bathrooms.
This was the perfect place for our group of 10 girls. Leo was very accommodating and easy to get ahold of when needed. The outdoor patio was so pretty and relaxing we didn't want to leave. The neighborhood was very safe plus you are only a few blocks away from State Street so it's easy to walk everywhere. State street is super charming with lots cute shops and delicious food (Finch & Fork is yummy). The kitchen is very spacious and easy to cook in. There is a Trader Joe's and a Whole foods a few miles away which was a huge bonus. I would highly recommend this place to a family and/or large group looking for a nice place to stay with easy access to getting around. Thanks again Leo for having us, we really enjoyed our stay.
This house was fantastic. Two adults and two kids stayed comfortably for three weeks. The location is perfect - close to state street, restaurants, etc. Leo was a great host, making sure we had everything we needed and suggesting places to eat, visit, etc. If we come back, we'll definitely stay here again!
Home was exactly as shown in the pictures. Very beautifully appointed and the location is outstanding...walking distance or a very short drive to downtown. Leo was very welcoming and always available for any questions. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again.
I had a great stay with Leo. The house was beautiful - even decorated for the holidays! He was ready at the house when we arrived and gave us a thorough tour of the place. It was also conveniently located to downtown and in walking distance to many bars/restaurants. We had no issues and I'd stay here again.
This is indeed a very charming bungalow home quite near downtown Santa Barbara. Lots of open space between the kitchen dining area and living room with bright colorful and comfortable surroundings and a secluded patio behind the house. The master suite offers plenty of storage space and a very nice bathroom, and the upstairs bedroom has a double bed and twin bed divided by a curtain. The sofa in the entry foyer also opens into a bed but note that it is literally in the entryway just inside the front door.
Terrific house in a terrific location -- a few blocks from the more civilized end of the downtown strip. We walked to nearby destinations as often as we drove. Interior was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. The backyard landscaping is as amazing as it looks in the pictures. Leo met us at the door when we arrived and showed us around, answered our questions. Of note: we have small children, and after moving a few items out of reach, the house was decently kid-safe. Would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Santa Barbara.
I've lived locally in Santa Barbara for 35 years, but I needed a special and larger home to host my family for my daughters Santa Barbara wedding. As I am familiar with Santa Barbara I knew the location ( near dowtown) and the historic quality of the home would be a perfect setting for our stay. Our stay was perfect everything looked exactly like the pictures- the open indoor outdoor feel in the kitchen was particularly beautiful. We also enjoyed the kitchen as we did some cooking during our stay including 15 pies for the wedding. I would highly recommend this beautiful home and I believe it offers a perfect stay for anyone wanting to enjoy Santa Barbara.

A native of Santa Barbara, after getting a degree from UCSB in ECE, I worked as an engineer in the Silicon Valley for a number of years before moving to Germany, where I lived for 8 years before returning to Santa Barbara. I met my wife, Daniela, in Germany and our daughter was born there. I currently teach ESL at Santa Barbara City College and my wife teaches German at Westmont College. Our daughter is now starting high school and we also have a son going into 5th grade. We love to travel to experience other cultures and the wonders of nature. Some of our most memorable recent trips were 3 weeks backpacking through the Yucatan Peninsula and another 4 weeks taking our VW camper up to Yellowstone and back.
