Bright, sunny and airy, comfortably furnished, with quiet neighbors, includes all linens and twice-weekly cleaning service. No smoking, no pets.
Perfect for families: baby's room with crib, high chairs, child locks (can easily be removed for guests without young children), toys and books, basement play room and child's study/play area upstairs too! Because we have two master bedrooms, each with en suite bathroom, this is a great place for two families to vacation together. Our wonderful housekeeper is available for babysitting (at additional expense to you).
We are located in the heart of Brooklyn Heights, New York City's first landmark historic district, a few blocks away from the Brooklyn Bridge and a stone's throw from Manhattan. Excellent local dining and all conveniences in walking distance. Easy access to all subway lines; the ride time is 5 minutes to Lower Manhattan, 15 minutes to SoHo and Union Square or 20 minutes to Midtown. Be a tourist during the day but return home in the evening to truly relax in this quiet enclave with its picturesque brownstones set among tree-lined streets and spectacular harbor views from the Promenade (steps from our house). DUMBO is a short walk away, offering great shopping, galleries and eateries, and we are also right next to the brand-new Brooklyn Bridge Park along the waterfront, offering delights for young and old -- carousel, biking and running trails, water park, volleyball, ferry to Governor's Island or Manhattan, and incredible water views!
The neighborhood is about 30 minutes away from New York's major airports.

Amy's house was amazing - a beautiful spacious home with top of the line bedrooms and bathrooms and everything you could possibly need (even parking!). Perfect location, walkable to everything great in Brooklyn Heights, Dumbo and Cobble Hill, and an easy 1 stop on the subway to Manhattan. My family had a wonderful stay. The house was particularly great for kids - my daughters were amazed by all of the toys and books and did not want to leave! We were able to use their crib, changing table and stroller, which made travelling with young children so much easier. And for the adults, the kitchen was gorgeous and we really enjoyed cooking in it. I would definitely recommend this house.
Amy was a superb hostess and welcomed us on the day of our arrival. The house was perfect for two families and Amy accommodated to all of our needs. Although we did not spend much time in the house (So much to do and see in New York) only cooking two dinners, we found the home to be amazingly equipped. We found Amy to be a generous hostess and would recommend her and her lovely family.
Wonderful stay- The house is just beautiful and Amy is a gracious host who really cares that you have a pleasant stay and goes to great lengths to make sure the space is clean and comfy. My relatives who stayed in the home during my wedding weekend loved being there. This is a perfect home for housing a group- lots of bedrooms and bathrooms and ample space for everyone to hang out. I can't rate the stay, location, and accommodations highly enough. The neighborhood is perfect- very quiet and charming but steps from the Brooklyn Promenade and one quick subway stop to Manhattan. I'd recommend the home to anyone traveling to New York. Thanks Amy for such a wonderful experience and making my family feel so welcome!
If you are thinking of booking this house then DO. It is absolutely beautiful. It is located in a really cool neighbourhood in Brooklyn Heights. It has restaurant's, bars, subway station, supermarket's, shopping and really safe facilities for children. We ( 9 adults and 2 kids, 4 and 2 years) stayed for 1 week and fell in love with this area and house. Our children have nice memory's of our stay here. Everyday they had a choice of numerous play areas and thoroughly enjoyed all. If you are trying to plan accommodation that ticks ALL boxes, then this house is a definite option.
I can only repeat everything all the other reviewers have to say : we had a wonderful time in this beautiful home that exceeded all of our expectations and Amy made us feel very welcome. Thank you again Amy.
I didn't actually stay here, but I arranged it for my extended family and spent some time in the house visiting with them. They were 10 people plus 2 other people on one night (all adults of various ages) + a visiting baby on Sunday. Amy's house is really (REALLY!) beautiful, even nicer than the photos suggest! It suited my large family perfectly for our weekend in NYC.
My mother said she had never enjoyed a large family gathering this much. She loved her ensuite bathroom, AC during a horrible heatwave, the shades that kept everything perfectly dark in the bedroom (the 2nd floor guest with ensuite), the water pressure, and the great sound proofing that allowed her peace and privacy. Also, their house is full of awesome books and toys for children (plus crib, high chair, etc...). My 10 month old is too young to appreciate most of that but any family with young children would be thrilled.
They are super close to High St. station, super close to Brooklyn Bridge park, Grimaldi's pizza and Jane's Carousel in DUMBO, super close to the city....etc. etc. etc.
Amy is essentially a seasoned host who has thought of everything, even a little book about the historical significance of the home. Staying in a place like this makes you appreciate how airbnb allows you to experience something that you would never get to do otherwise, i.e stay in a gorgeously maintained historical home....
My family had forgotten some items in the house and Amy contacted me right away and I was able to pick up the items in question before leaving town....
We would not hesitate to recommend her home to anyone and will definitely book again should she still be airbnb-ing in the future. Thanks Amy!
I can't add that much to all the excellent comments Amy’s house already gathered. By end of July 2013, we stayed one week in the house, we were ten persons including 6 kids from various ages. We all enjoyed to stay here for different reasons (location, air conditioning, number of bathrooms, large kitchen, BBQ, garden, Pac Man, Piano, clean, etc…). During the week, the temperature in New York was incredibly high. I don’t believe we would have find best oasis so close to Manhattan. The house clearly contributed to the great time we spent in New York during our holidays. We strongly recommend !!!
I can only repeat everything all the other reviewers have to say - this is a lovely home-away-from home, we were absolutely delighted with our accommodation, and Amy made us feel very welcome.
The house is fully equipped with everything you might need, spotlessly clean, and the wonderful housekeeper came by during our stay to do her regular work. This is perfect accommodation for large groups, plenty of space and the luxury of one bathroom for each bedroom - a major selling point if there's loads of girls in your group! Air conditioning was a god-send during the 4th July holiday heatwave. Beautiful kitchen if you want to eat in, but there are so many restaurants and cafes right around the corner, why would you? We felt very safe walking around the area, even late at night.
You cannot beat the location, three subway lines within easy walk connect you just one stop to Manhattan, or walk across the Brooklyn Bridge right into the heart of Downtown. And then back to the (relative!) peace and quiet of the delightful village atmosphere of Brooklyn, a good night's sleep guaranteed.
Amy is the perfect host, most helpful in answering all my pre-arrival questions, with lots of suggestions of things to do in the neighborhood. We communicated the entire time of our stay, and there was even a large bag of bagels there to welcome us!
I have no hesitation in highly recommending this home and this location, and would go back in a heart-beat. We could not have found a more suitable accommodation.
We absolutely loved staying at Amy's Townhouse. It exceeded all of our expectations. We felt at home immediately. The house is gorgeous, beautifully designed, amazing kitchen and bathrooms. We were in town for our son's wedding and stayed with our other three sons and daughter-in-laws. There was more than enough room for all of us. On the day of the wedding, my son's groomsmen came over for a barbecue, enjoyed the backyard, then changed into their suits and we all walked to Pebble Beach for the ceremony. The wedding was amazing and staying at the Townhouse made it even more special. It was a gathering place for us after rehearsal dinners and brunches. And after the wedding , my wonderful sons and daughter in laws talked into the early morning hours.
Amy provides everything you could possibly need and makes you feel so welcome. I can't wait to stay there again.
What a treat to stay in such a convenient Brooklyn location, and in such family-friendly digs! We visited with 10 family members, including three generations, and everyone felt they had their own space, but the house itself also is laid out well to bring the family together. As you can see from photos, the home is well renovated and well cared-for. The owners provide a helpful guide to the neighborhood, and also left us a few croissants to welcome us to their house. It's also important to know that at this location you're within two or three blocks of two different MTA stations that can bring you to downtown NYC immediately (one station is on the 2 & 3, the other on the A & C lines). We headed downtown (easily and happily) each day during our visit and were incredibly happy to come back during the evenings to a well-functioning "home away from home."
