Enjoy glamping in our garden cottage nestled in beautiful Frene Creek Valley. French doors open out onto the deck where you can sit and watch the goats and chickens spending a lazy afternoon. If you love the fresh air of the country, open the french doors and double doors to the garden and feel like you're one with nature. Pick up a bottle of wine from one of Hermann's world renown wineries and sip on a glass from the patio atop a stone wine cellar built in 1852.

Die Unterkunft
This space is for those who want to disconnect and enjoy the great outdoors. Enjoy the cozy feel of the primitive cottage while being one step away from 35 acres of hiking, picnicing, kayaking, and sitting around a campfire. The cottage is finished farmhouse style with cedar floors that we created starting from dead cedar trees in the woods to sawmilling boards to installing and finishing.

The cottage is complete with everything you would need for cooking if you want to stay close. Most importantly (!), a French press and ground coffee will be provided. There is a tea pot for heating water on the gas camp stove that’s available for your use. There is also a pot, skillet, spatula, silverware, plates, bowls, cups, coffee mugs, and a bin for washing dishes. There is a bonfire area where you can get warm by the fire, make smores, stargaze, listen to the owls and see the milky way.

If you'd like, you will find fresh farm eggs waiting for you that you can cook on your propane camp stove along with some fresh bagels for breakfast.
Let's be clear about the primitive nature of the cottage! There is no electricity and no running water. the bathroom facility is an outhouse. We currently have a porta potty while our composting outhouse is being built. You will have plenty of drinking water and water for washing the old fashioned way with a pitcher and bowl. Fresh washcloths and towels are provided. You are welcome to use the shower in the main house.

There is a gas heater with flames that make it look like an actual wood burning stove. It heats up the cottage in no time and gives the space a romantic cozy feel. The heater is thermostatically controlled so the flames will turn off and come back on depending on your setting.

If you need wifi, you are welcome to walk to the main house where you can connect or charge your phone. There is a phone charger in the drawer of the washstand, also.

Zugang für Gäste
You can hike on any of our 35 acres. We will provide you with a map. There are hay fields and wildflowers, plenty of woods, limestone bluffs, and a creek crossing where you can look for fossils. You can also hike to the cemetary where some of the original residents of the property have been laid to rest.

There are multiple gardens that you can take a walk through and various seating areas where you can sit and relax. You're welcome to explore in any of the outdoor areas. There is a large bonfire pit next to the wine cellar that you can build a fire in or you can use the fire ring next to your cabin.

The pond is available for your use, also. You can go kayaking (we provide the kayaks), fishing, and swimming. There is no life guard on duty (swim at your own risk). There are bass, blue gill, and catfish just waiting to be caught.

You're welcome to go in the yoga shala if you take off your shoes. :) You can hang out there, have a picnic, do some yoga, or meditate.

Weitere wichtige Hinweise
There are yoga classes Tuesdays/Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the shala on the far side of the house from the cabin. The maximum capacity in each class is 5 people. If we have space available, you are welcome to join us. Classes are $12 per person.

The property takes a lot of maintenance so it's possible that we will be using the tractor or running around on the gator but we will respect your space and peace as much as possible.
