Needed a quick break from a hectic schedule and was looking for a place that was surrounded by peace and tranquillity but still in (or close to) Greater London, so I could attend any business in London as it arose. This place fit the bill perfectly.
What I didn't expect was the absolute luxury that I felt as "Lord of the Manor" in this historic house. I had everything I wished for - huge entertaining area, great Internet connection and comms, massive kitchen facilities, super-size TV, and generous hosts.
Looking forward to staying at my sanctuary again very soon.
A disappointing visit. House was shabby, grubby and in need or repairs e.g. dangerous socket in kitchen, one shower with large leak, which had been 'repaired' with a flannel over the top of it! No hot water or heating on arrival as boiler broken so had to wait for plumber to repair, about 2hrs. Garden is dark with minimal planting, covered in wood chippings and at a steep angle. The trampoline was at an hazardous angle and in our view dangerous. Empty compost bags, tin cans and cigarette butts were lying underneath. There is no working house phone contrary to the published details and mobile phone signal is poor.
I am sorry that your trip to London was disappointing. You arrived very early. If you had arrived at check in time the plumbing repair and cleaning would have been complete . In the photo's of the home it shows exactly how the garden looks- At the very end of the garden is a trampoline that is very popular with families and it conforms to safety standards. The garden does have a slope and i am sorry you found that steep .There is a 100 year old oak tree at the end of the garden which may mean that there is more shade than other gardens, sorry.
There is a working telephone, high speed internet and cell connection at the house .
I spent much time trying to reach you through email ,airbnb desk and by telephone. The contact details you supplied were incorrect which made communication impossible. We have a strict policy about no smoking inside the home but we do allow smoking in the garden. We provide ashtrays outside and you shouldn't have found butts in a tin can under the trampoline. I will make sure that the gardener checks for hidden cig butts in the garden from now on.
Such a beautiful house in lovely surroundings - we absolutely loved our stay here and would come back without a shadow of a doubt. thank you so much for having us :) Kaye x
Showing up to the "castle" was breathtaking. The property and area are equally amazing. Rachel made sure I had everything I needed and made it feel like home. From the incredibly fast WIFI to the large kitchen and very nice TV, everything was perfect. Great quiet neighborhood close to station and close to city. I'd recommend the Tower to anyone..
The house was beautiful and Rachel was a fantastic host helping with the booking with great communication before during and after the reservation. We had a very welcomed stay and it would be a pleasure to deal with Rachel and this property again.
This is a great house! Large kitchen and beautiful family room which was perfect for our stay. It's a short 15 minute drive to High Barnett railway station (direct line into London) and close to the historic cities of St Albans and Hertford.
The setting is idyllic, a small group of up market private residences surrounded by countryside. You will need a car to get around.
It was easy booking through Rachel and everything went smoothly.
