The Kilday Cabin is a cozy, Amish-built log cabin at Happiness Hills Farm, a farm and retreat center in the Appalachian foothills near historic Berea, Kentucky. It's a perfect little getaway for couples, families (with a kid or two), and small groups who want to enjoy each other's company in a beautiful setting.
This cabin is one of a pair - the Moore Cabin is right next door, with a shared picnic area between.

Die Unterkunft
When you're sitting on the porch of the cabin with a cup of fresh coffee or tea, looking across the sloping lawn toward the hammocks and the bridge across the Red Lick Creek, time seems to stand still and peace washes over you. At least that's what we hear from folks who stay here, and what we experience every morning at our home, just up the hill from the cabin.

Zugang für Gäste
The Kilday Cabin is completely private - you'll have your own door lock code and once you're inside, the space is entirely yours. Outside the door, you'll be sharing the wide open spaces with other guests and the Escobar family. You're welcome to enjoy the creek, the lawns, the walking trails, the chapel, the campfire area, and our 10-acre lake, along with the rest of us - we welcome you!

Weitere wichtige Hinweise
We are committed to a healthy earth, and we want our retreat center to do its part. We ask our guests to join us in separating food waste (we'll compost it for you) and recycling (we'll deliver it to the local center), and we promise to plant a tree on the farm for each booking of five nights or more.
We have three dogs: a Lab, a Beagle mix, and a Border Collie mix. They're confined to a perimeter around our home, so they won't be visiting the cabin, but they can be heard sometimes, defending the farm against marauding turkeys, raccoons, and opossums. A tiny dog named Ari lives at Gate House, the caretakers' cottage at the entrance to the farm, near the Barn. Several cats live here as well, and they're all friendly. They take their jobs seriously, so you might see them sneaking up on wild animals like moles and mice in the fields.

The Red Lick Valley is a lovely, wide valley edged by rounded hills at the western edge of the Appalachian Mountains. Near our farm are a couple of small neighborhoods, but otherwise the entire area is completely agricultural, with family farms scattered along the winding roads. We're within 15 miles of Anglin Falls, Climax Springs, the Berea College Forest, the Central KY Wildlife Management Area, the city of Berea, and the city of Richmond.

I'm a musician, dancer, educator, mom, nature girl, Jesus follower, and travel enthusiast, and I'm generally excited about life and the possibilities of each day. My mantra is "choose happiness," and that's what I try to do each and every moment. My husband, Alfredo, is a visual artist whose murals and other paintings can be seen in Berea and other cities throughout the eastern USA. I have recorded 11 albums, several of which can be found on iTunes, and I'm involved with two student folk dance groups: The Berea Festival Dancers (of which our daughters, Lydia and Isabel are members) and The Berea College Country Dancers. We're homeschoolers, and are often called upon to work as arts education consultants through state arts councils and the Kentucky Department of Education. On any given day you may find us doing schoolwork at home, working on the farm or buildings, or out and about in the world doing our arts thing and trying to make life fuller for everyone we meet.

Guests who stay with us usually enjoy their stay more when they're interested in interacting with us - we love to recommend activities, share stories, and have even been known to collaborate on meals with our guests.
