La Maison Montignac has a “home from home” feel because the owners spend several months of the year there themselves and have lovingly restored and improved this fabulous building. Offering spacious accommodation with all of the facilities you could wish for, set amongst large landscaped gardens of approximately 1 acre with stunning views over the valley.

An easy 20 minute walk (2km) to the historical bastide town of Monsegur which has a selection of shops, bars, restaurants and a weekly market every Friday. There are also vibrant weekly night markets every Wednesday in the peak summer months. Choco Latine boulangerie which produces artisan bread, fine French patisserie and chocolates on-site is a favourite of the owners and there is a well stocked Carrefour supermarket 1.6km (1 mile) from the house just before you enter Monsegur .

The entire house and all facilities are for your exclusive use during your stay.

All bedrooms have room fans and there are several hairdryers.

Master Suite. Beautiful, spacious upper floor master suite with a king size bed (150cm x 200cm) and TV with UK Freesat channels.
Dual aspect windows over looking the grounds both to the rear and front with spectacular views over the valley.
Insect screen on one window and vented roller shutter on the other.
En-suite shower room with shower, wash basin and separate wc.

Sunflower room. Spacious ground floor room with a boutique feel. Super king size bed (180cm wide x 190cm) which can be converted to twin beds if required.
Dual aspect windows with insect screens.
Next to a shared bathroom with half bath and shower over, wash basin and separate wc.

Little Bears room. Upper floor. Small, cosy room with twin beds (90cm x 190cm), dual aspect windows. Exposed oak beams and stone walls.

Big bears room. Upper floor. Characterful pretty room with double bed (140cm x 195cm), washbasin and 2 windows. Exposed oak beams. Situated next to the “Little Bears room”.

Garden room suite. Benefitting from its own entrance from the courtyard. A delightful, spacious and airy room with king size bed (150cm x 200cm). Seating area with sofa. Window with insect screen and patio doors that let in lots of light.
En-suite shower room with large shower, wash basin and wc.

Medieval room. This very special room boasts original features including a 16th century stone fireplace, original tiled floor and stone sink (not in use). The medieval style king size bed (150cm x 200cm) and furniture, dressed with Toile de Jouy drapes, finishes off this romantic room. There is a stable door which opens onto a small garden area at the side of the house and an inter-connecting door with the Mimosa room.
Shared shower room with shower, wash basin and wc with the Mimosa room.

Mimosa room. Small pretty room with twin beds (90cm x 190cm) with inter-connecting door into the Medieval room. This room can also be accessed by another door from the hallway.
Situated next to a shower room with shower, wash basin and wc which is shared with the Medieval room.

Children’s and Baby facilities:
2 travel cots suitable for babies, 2 high chairs, stair gates, buggy, potty and a baby changing mat.
Children’s swings and large grassed areas with plenty of room for running about in the 1 acre garden. A selection of toys and games.

Kitchen diner:
Modern fitted kitchen with double sink, dishwasher, dual fuel range oven with electric grill and 2 ovens and gas hob with 5 burners, microwave, 2 fridges, freezer, kettle, toaster and coffee maker. Ample storage for supplies in a large pantry style cupboard.
A large table comfortably seats 10 people, additional outside tables and chairs can be used to extend if required.

Utility area:
Laundry area with washing machine, iron, ironing board and clothes airer. Washing line outside on the courtyard.

Living room:
Comfortable large sofas occupy the lounge of the 40ft x 20ft open plan living area.
Large panoramic doors offer stunning views out across the grounds and ever changing landscape of the valley below.
Features include a 22ft oak beamed ceiling and large stone fireplace housing a wood burning stove.
Heating in the low season is by wood burning stove and electric heaters. (Logs can be provided and are charged as an extra).
UK Freesat TV/radio, widescreen TV, Denon Bluetooth speakers, DVD/CD player and a selection of films, books and board games.

Games Room:
Great fun for all ages and the focus of many “holiday tournaments”. Table tennis, pool table, table football, air hockey and dart board. A selection of children’s toys and games and an additional fridge for drinks. The high, oak beamed ceiling keeps this room nice and cool in summer.
All equipment is provided for guests.

Enjoy breakfast on the patio to the front of the house overlooking the stunning views of the valley, or take a lazy lunch under the shady covered oak veranda where there is a large BBQ and courtyard.
The mature landscaped garden is set on an acre of land and attracts wildlife such as birds, butterflies, red squirrels, pheasants, barn owls and deer in the vineyards below.
There is a private gated driveway with parking for several cars.

Private pool:
11m x 5m heated pool with a solar cover to retain the heat overnight. The whole pool is 1.4m deep with 4 shallow walk-in steps which span the whole width of the pool at one end. Surrounding terrace with solar shower, sun loungers and parasols all securely fenced and gated in addition to a pool alarm.
(Please note: specific pool temperatures cannot be guaranteed as heating is influenced by weather conditions and other factors).

Private tennis court:
The house was bought by the owners from former French tennis star, Patrice Dominguez, who represented France in the Davis cup between 1971 – 1979 and went on to train several players including Henri Leconte. He then furthered his career by becoming National Technical Director of the French Tennis Federation and also worked as an analyst for the French media. The full size clay court, which has uninterrupted views of the valley, was built for Patrice and many of his racquets, books and tournament documentation were left at the house by him, some of which are on display at the house today.
Racquets and balls are provided for guests.

Activities and what to do in the area: Weekly farmers markets, summer night markets, restaurants, cycle hire, local adventure park and many more activities and places to visit.

Located in the heart of the Bordeaux famous wine region where there are plenty of vineyards for tastings and tours. There are many picturesque towns in the region, nearest are Saint Foy La Grande, Saint Emilion, Duras and Monsegur with restaurants, café bars, shops and the beautiful historical countryside for you to explore.

Coast, Beach and Water park:
A fresh water lake with sandy beach at Blasimon is just 28km away and is a popular attraction to take children for a day out. The gently shelving sand provides a fun environment for splashing around and cooling off in the heat of the summer sun. Blasimon lake.

Aqua Park is 41km located near Bergerac.

Aqua Fun Park near Casteljaloux is 50km. Park with a huge freshwater lake, picnic benches, walks, facilities, man made sandy beach, water sports, kids play area…. great for adults and kids.

Visit Europe’s largest sand dune 137km, the Dune du Pilat where both the climb and the views will take your breath away! Reward yourself by feasting on fresh seafood around the Bay of Arcachon or take the ferry to Cap Ferret and feel the sand between your toes whilst you enjoy oysters and chilled white wine.

Yes we believe chocolate is also an activity… we often have to visit and make sure the quality is up to standard so we can continue to recommend it.
Maison Guinguet gourmet chocolate, 6km, just outside Duras, there is a lovely shop which also sells gifts and offers guided visits to their artisan factory in July and August.

Duras Castle:
The famous Chateau de Duras, 7km away, is well worth a visit and if you can muster the energy to climb to the top the stunning 360 degree vista is well worth it.

Tea room with gardens:
Jardin de Boissona has six little gardens, each with their own character. Outside and inside seating. Especially known for their teas and delicious cakes, 7km.

Zip wire adventure and climbing park:
Playground and snack bar, 9km.

Boat trips:
Dordogne river trips are available on traditional boats in Bergerac. 47km.

Cycling and bike hire:
Bike hire can be delivered to your door, view prices and book.

Electric bicycle hire at Eymet (27km).

Canoeing and kayaking:
Canoe hire is available on the rivers. The river Dropt winds through the valley with a slow flow on it,
whilst the Dordogne river at Sainte Foy La Grande has a faster pace and has plenty of canoe hire opportunities.

Canoe Kayak hire:
Allemans-du-Dropt 17km: Dropt river.
Sainte-Foy-la-Grande 29km: On the Dordogne river.

There are many pay and play golf courses within the area, the best being the beautiful Chateau Des Vigiers Golf and Country Club 26km. The chateau dates back to 1597 and is set in 450 acres of stunning countryside. Facilities also include a fine restaurant and relaxing beauty spa.

Crazy Golf:
Crazy golf and animals! Drinks and snacks. 16km.

Wild life park, animals:
Parc du Griffon, animals, play areas and snack bar. 20 minutes drive 12km away.

Ferme Exotique is a fun day out with lots of activities for children. 70km.

Zoo de Bordeaux Pessac is 95km.

Local markets.
Most villages and towns hold weekly markets full of fresh and interesting local produce. An ideal place to pick up your holiday mementos and gifts too.

Duras (7km): Every Monday from 8.30 to 14:00 (closes at 12:00 from September to June). Nice market with excellent organic fruit and veg, organic goats cheese, foie gras and a selection of other stalls.

Allemans du Dropt (16km): Every Sunday morning.

Sainte Foy La Grande (25km): Every Saturday from 8.30 to 12:00. Big market with excellent producers and winner of “Favourite French Market” in 2014 .

Monségur (2km): Every Friday from 8.30 to 12. Nice small market with particularly good fish stall.

Issigeac (50km): Every Sunday morning. Extremely popular. Top tip – arrive early!

Eymet (27km): Every Thursday morning. Medieval town.

Night markets:
Both Monsegur and Duras also have vibrant night markets during the peak summer months grab a bite to eat from one of the stalls and enjoy your food with a drink at one of the bars. There’s usually musical entertainment which creates a lively atmosphere.

Monsegur (2km) : Wednesday evening
