My old adobe home is an ongoing labor of love. Your rooms have been newly refurbished/remodeled and are full of Santa Fe comfort and charm. You'll enjoy a full kitchen, full bath, access to a washer/dryer, bedroom with television (networks and premium channels). It's an easy fifteen minute stroll to the Plaza, ten minutes to the Railyard District, or twenty minutes to the galleries and restaurants on Canyon Road. You will love this traditional adobe in an old neighborhood close to everything.

Your space is a fully private apartment in my house, with a private entrance, a full kitchen, bathroom with tub/shower, bedroom, and living room.

Zugang für Gäste
Welcome to Old Santa Fe!

I hope your stay in here will be a fun and memorable one! If you need me for anything, you are welcome to text or call (three zero three-nine zero three-eight three two two), or knock on the my door, across the patio from yours. I'm happy to provide restaurant and sightseeing recommendations. Here are a few important housekeeping items to keep you warm and safe, and the plumbing flowing smoothly!

1. ACCESS. Check-in is 4:00 pm. or later. Either the key will be in the doorknob, or I will meet you and give you the key. You may park behind the unit, down the driveway and immediately on your left. Park next to the coyote fence. The house contains another apartment beside my quarters, and there is a casita in the back. Naturally, I ask that you be considerate of all other residents.

2. INTERNET. Choose the wireless network called Buena Vista Guest. It is an open network.

3. HEAT. If you need heat, please use the gas fireplace. It is designed to heat the whole unit, does so effectively, and is thermostatically controlled. I will show you how it works. The remote will be on the TV stand. For air conditioning, use the white rectangular thermostat, also on the TV stand. Know that it is ridiculously complicated and it is critical that you push only the “+” and “-” buttons to control the temperature, and the fan button in the middle of the second row, to adjust the fan.

4. BATHROOM. Always use fan when bathing or showering. Use caution entering and leaving the bath/shower—use the wall support handle. Toilet—hold the the appropriate flush button for five seconds for a full flush. Only human waste and toilet tissue should be flushed, please. Anything else should go in the waste basket next to the toilet. backed up, but should it clog, there is a plunger next to the toilet.

5. TELEVISION: After you turn it on, choose HULU on the remote for all of the ordinary and cable channels, as well as HBO. You can also access Netflix from the remote. For Showtime, hit the “home” button on the remote, then search for and click on Showtime. You can also hook to Bluetooth on the TV to use the speakers for your own music streaming. Pandora is also available on the TV main menu.

6. COOKING. You are welcome to use the crockery, pots, pans, and oven/stove. I provide staples such as salt, pepper, flour, sugar, etc. The stove is a gas appliance, so be attentive, careful and aware.

7. LAUNDRY. Because of the coronavirus threat, I am limiting access to my laundry room and recommending that you use a local Laundry, which I can recommend. Normally, my laundry room is open to guests staying a week or longer, upon appointment. Text or call me to set up a time that works for both of us, as the laundry room is on my side. Please do not launder shoes or any non-standard laundry items.

8. CHECKOUT: Checkout time is11:00 a.m. If you want a later checkout, please ask, but it may not be possible. Please do not strip the bed. DON'T FORGET TO LEAVE THE KEY on the kitchen table.

My adobe is a few blocks directly south of The Roundhouse, our beautiful New Mexico State Capitol building, in the Don Gaspar Historic District. The neighborhood is characterized by old adobes and other homes from the early 20th century.

I am the author of five failed novels, passionate about my adult children and tiny grandchildren, great cooking, gardening, writing, history, economics, and progressive politics. Chinese studies was my college major, though my language skills (Mandarin) have greatly diminished over the years. I have an advanced degree in theology, though I have either eroded or advanced into an agnostic pantheist who can't stop hoping for and loving and mourning the God who is/isn't there. My limited travels have taken me to many European countries, Asia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru, and the USA, where I prefer road trips and visiting museums and curious sights in small towns between destinations. Aside from road trips, I would much rather be places than travel to them. I'm looking forward to beaming technology, as I find air travel hideous. I love the American Southwest and continually seek to learn and see more of it. I fell in love with Santa Fe as a small child in a room in St. Louis. My grandparents began spending their summers here in 1939, and created a Santa Fe room in their St. Louis home. Many of the pots and paintings he collected over the years have returned to Santa Fe with me. My grandfather's-grandparents are buried in La Junta, Colorado. Their tales of the Southwest remained in family lore, partly inspiring my father to move us to Colorado when I was 4.
