Weitere wichtige Hinweise
Online navigation tools sometimes show the resort in Jeffersonville, VT, while others show it in Cambridge, VT. (Jeffersonville is a small town within Cambridge, VT, that is a few miles down the mountain from the resort.)
VTrans closes the section of Route 108 that connects Smugglers' Notch to Stowe for winter (if you drove it, you would know why), usually some time in November until May. When closed, it's a 40 minute drive from Smuggs to Stowe.

Things to do:
• Ski, ride, bike, hike, fishing, kayak, and more
• The resort offers a lot of fun activities. Check out the Daycation Pass at www.smuggs.com
• Plenty of dining options, plus Ben and Jerry’s!
Plenty of restaurants in the resort area.
Fun Zone 2.0 offers fun stuff for kids of all ages. There is a bouncy castle, bouncy house, ping-pong table, games, and more. https://www.smuggs.com/pages/universal/funzone-gozone.php
Local Attraction
• Mount Mansfield is great for hiking, biking, alpine skiing (at Smuggs or back-country), x-country skiing. Great hiking, biking, and skiing right from the resort.
• Go ziplining at ArborTrek https://arbortrek.com/smuggs-stowe-vermont/zip-line-canopy-tour/ right outside the resort or rent a canoe or kayak from Vermont Canoe and Kayak. https://vtcanoeandkayak.com/
• In the summer, it’s a fun, 10-minute drive over the notch (keep heading up Route 108) over Mount Mansfield. Just before you get to the top, there’s a parking lot on the right that’s a great place for kids to explore boulders, caves (not caves, but crannies between boulders), etc.
Stowe, Waterbury, and the Mad River Valley (Route 108, the shortest route between Smuggs and Stowe, is closed for the winter, usually from November through May.)
* Explore Stowe. Gawk at the luxury homes. Ride the Gondola or drive the toll road to the top of the mountain.
• Beer aficionados must stop at The Alchemist in Stowe to pick up some Heady Topper for you and your friends back home.
• From Stowe, take Route 100 south on to Waterbury and visit Cold Hollow Cider, Cabot Cheese Annex, and Ben & Jerry’s.
• If you want to extend your drive, stay on 100 south along the Mad River to charming Waitsfield and Warren. If it’s hot, take a dip at the kid-friendly swimming hole at Lareau Park before treating yourself to a creemie (what Vermonters call a soft-serve ice cream cone) at Canteen Creemie Company or one of the dozens of Creemie stands/shops you’ll pass along the way. If you're lucky enough to be here on the 4th of July, enjoy the spectacle of the Warren parade (very hippie, be prepared to cover young kids' eyes).
• Beer lovers, double your pleasure by grabbing a case of Sip of Sunshine from Lawson's Finest Liquids in Waitsfield.
Burlington
• Burlington is the closest thing nearby that resembles a city. Head west on Route 15 from Jeffersonville – in about 45 minutes, you’ll be in downtown Burlington. (Your GPS will identify a few shortcuts for you.)
• Shop the pedestrian-only Church Street, filled with tourists festival-goers in the summer and lit for Christmas.
• Walk up to Battery Park and gaze across Lake Champlain.
• Visit artsy Pine Street on the South Side for unique shops and craft brews and cider and stop into the Lake Champlain Chocolate factory.
And beyond...
• Take a drive through the picturesque Northeast Kingdom. If you’re a foodie, you’ll have to stop at the Cellars at Jasper Hill and Hill Farmstead Brewery, both in Greensboro, to try their literally-world’s-best cheeses and beers, respectively.
• Montreal, the closest “big” city, is a two-hour drive. You’ll need passports or enhanced driver’s licenses for adults and birth certificates for kids to cross the border. Be aware that signs are in French and the locals speak it, although you’ll get on fine with English, especially in Montreal.

Restaurants
(We haven’t tried everything, so just because we don’t recommend it here doesn’t mean it’s not good!)
Of course, you can dine right at the resort. But if you want to venture out...
In town
• Right down the road from the resort is Martell’s At The Red Fox. Good food, live music on the weekends. They have a children’s menu. They’re a dinner-only place (or late lunch), opening at 1 pm, except Sundays for brunch.
• The Family Table is a little more upscale but still kid-friendly.
• Pizza and subs (and donuts!) at the Cupboard Deli & Bakery, at the gas station right on the other side of Rte 100.
• Brewster River Pub (they brew their beer) or Moog’s Joint for pub food.
• In the summer, stop by the Burger Barn. It’s a food truck, but they serve the best burgers in Vermont, and it’s so close! If it’s nice, eat at their picnic tables; otherwise, it’s a short drive back to the condo. One word of warning – the line doesn’t move fast, so be prepared to wait if you see one.
A little further
• The Jericho Café and Tavern, halfway to Burlington, provides great food and atmosphere if you can get a seat.
• Lots of dining options over the mountain in Stowe or Waterbury, like Piecasso Pizzeria & Lounge for pizza and Italian, the Blue Donkey for burgers. For beer lovers, while you’re picking up your Heady Topper at The Alchemist, stop by Idyletyme Brewing for great beer and pub food. For a really special occasion, the Trapp Family Lodge is a beautiful spot (founded by the Trapp family of Sound of Music fame), or splurge at Michael’s-on-the-Hill or Hen of the Wood (but you’ll need to book your reservations well-ahead).
• Tons of options near and in Burlington. Walk up and down Church Street and find a place that looks good to eat. We like Sweetwaters, The Farmhouse, American Flatbread for dinner and Penny Cluse or the Swingin’ Pinwheel for breakfast or lunch, or head down to Pine Street and stop in Citizen Cider or Zero Gravity for drinks and food. Phish fans – stop in Nectars where the band cut its teeth.
