Unplug, unwind, and retreat from it all. This one-room yurt-dome hybrid is our most private secluded rental on the farm. There's no indoor plumbing and limited electric, but spring water, lanterns, and a woodstove provide creature comforts. A small solar-powered generator runs a light and fan. There is adjacent parking and adjoining outhouse, plus a seasonal bath house and courtesy kitchen on the farm. BOOKING BETWEEN NOV. 1 - MAR 31? READ SPECIAL NOTICE!

SPECIAL NOTICE FOR GUESTS BOOKING BETWEEN NOVEMBER 1ST AND MARCH 31ST: we're making improvements! We are dismantling the Courtesy Kitchen and building a new and improved event facility! The new space will be a year-round, CLIMATE-CONTROLLED, shared-use space with state-of-the-art kitchen, indoor dining, full bath, coin-laundry, and other amenities. HOWEVER, this means there will be NO KITCHEN AVAILABLE DURING CONSTRUCTION. Nightly rates have been deeply discounted to reflect this inconvenience. Please prepare to be self-sufficient or enjoy our local restaurants. Message us with any questions.

HomeGrown HideAways is a hundred acre holler in the beautiful Red Lick Valley near Berea, Ky. We have all the good (beautiful views, babbling brook, hiking trails) and the bad (insects, howling coyotes, poison ivy) that nature has to offer so come prepared. We recommend hiking boots, bug spray, and jackets for cool nights.

The Yome can accommodate up to 6 people. It has a futon bunk bed, trundle mattress, and another futon couch. All the beds have sheets, pillows, and cotton blankets.

For cool nights, there is a woodstove inside the yome and a fire-pit in the front yard. Firewood is provided for the woodstove, but wood for the firepit can either be gathered for free from the forest or you can purchase seasoned, dry bundles from us. Please do not bring your own wood as this spreads the invasive ash borer beetle.

For large groups, you can book our "Off-Grid Camping Package" which includes the Yome, the Nook, and tent sites for up to 20 people. View our profile or the HomeGrown HideAways website to see all our listings including treehouses, cabins, a tipi, and more!

Zugang für Gäste
Feel free to wander around the farm and check out the scenery. There is a 1.5 mile hiking trail that encompasses the property along with a variety of side-trails (be sure to watch out for poison ivy!). We have a small playground with swings for the kids (and kids at heart). We also have two disc golf baskets and discs plus a croquet set you are welcome to set up. If you're feeling adventurous, Get Outside Ky is just 6 miles away and rents kayaks and Boone Gap Outfitters rents bicycles.

For your convenience, there is an outbuilding equipped with a phone (free long-distance), cookware, dishes, and kitchen appliances that you are welcome to use as long as you clean up after yourself. We also have a small "Farm Stand" where you can purchase our HomeGrown eggs and seasonal produce. Money spent in our farm stand is added to the budget for purchases made at the local farmers market for our breakfasts and dinners, so your dollars directly impact the livelihood of our food-growing neighbors!

Speaking of food, if you don't feel like cooking or leaving the farm, Nathan is a chef by trade and will happily cook for you with advance notice. Ingredients are sourced from our very own garden or from our many friends at the local farmers market. Due to off-farm work schedules, there are times we may not be home to provide meals, but we have some great local restaurants we'll happily recommend.

We also have several fire-pits on the farm and we ask that you make use of these instead of making your own, otherwise our farm looks like it has chicken pox from all the ground-fires. You are also welcome to bring your own above-ground fire container such as a grill or patio fire-pit. We have firewood for sale or wood can be gathered for free from our 80 acres of forest.

We have a shared-use bath house for all of our guests that is available from April through October (or whenever temperatures are predicted to fall below freezing). It features 4 flushing toilets and 2 solar-heated showers. We do provide toilet paper, but not towels or toiletries. For our winter guests, we built two outhouses (one near the yome and one in the RV area), but showers will not be available.

At the end of our road (about a half mile past our driveway), there is a small pond with a dock that folks have been known to swim in. In the other direction is a large reservoir that you pass on your way to our farm. The reservoir falls in the jurisdiction of Fish & Wildlife and has No Trespassing signs posted, but no one will report you as long as you aren't being disrespectful and leaving trash everywhere. Locals are often seen boating, fishing, and occasionally swimming, but be aware that there are usually cows upstream and snapping turtles enjoy the locale. We recommend closed-toe shoes or sandals when swimming in ponds.

All of our neighbors are friendly and accustomed to us having frequent guests so feel free to say hello if you see them out and about. Many of them will talk your ear right off with all the stories about our holler.

Weitere wichtige Hinweise
We are a farm in the mountains so be prepared to encounter INSECTS (mosquitoes, ticks, chiggers), WILDLIFE (deer, turkey, snakes, toads, and dare we mention the bear track we spotted one spring?), WEATHER (hot, cold, rain, snow), TOXIC PLANTS (poison ivy, stinging nettle, wild mushrooms), just to name a few.

Prepare to UNPLUG. There is no cell phone or internet reception at our place. Occasionally, some folks are able to catch a brief signal, but don't plan to have digital access. The closest place to get a decent signal is at the cemetery near the reservoir. There is a telephone you can use in our courtesy kitchen.

Please leave your pets at home. In addition to the native wildlife, we have dogs, cats, chickens, and roosters to keep you company.

We live in a DRY county so if you enjoy an evening libation, you'll need to BYO.

Prepare to UNPLUG. No cell service, no wifi, just nature (but you can easily find us on the world wide web)! HomeGrown HideAways is a hundred-acre holler near Berea, Ky. It is owned and operated by Nathan & Jessa Turner, Jessa's mom, and a variety of pets and wildlife. All guests have access to our Courtesy Kitchen which has a telephone, COFFEE, and all major appliances (oven, stove, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, sink, and a few dishes). It's nothing glamorous, but it can beat trying to cook on a fire in the rain! We'd definitely encourage you to go into Berea for some of the great food options there. We have a hiking trail, several fire pits, and are just 6 miles from Get Outside Ky where you can rent kayaks. We do not have tv, internet, or cell reception. There are as many stars as there are bugs so come prepared for both! The farm's bath house is open from April through October (or whenever temps remain above freezing for an extended period of time) and features 4 flush toilets and 2 solar-heated showers. Winter guests can use one of our three, luxurious outhouses, but won't have access to showers. We ask that you leave your pets at home, but you are welcome to snuggle ours. If you don't like dogs, our place may not be a good fit for you since our critters get pretty excited to meet new guests and may jump on you (we promise we're working on training). For those with service animals (ESAs are not allowed), please be aware that there are coyotes, hawks, and other wildlife that might be a danger and we cannot guarantee how our dogs might react to your assistant. Please chat with us ahead of time to make sure we're the right option for you. We love sharing our beautiful farm and hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Während deines Aufenthaltes
The residents of HomeGrown HideAways recognize that you're probably visiting our farm to escape the daily hustle and bustle of regular life and might be looking for some peace and quiet away from other humans. No worries! While you are likely to see residents puttering around the farm doing chores, you're under no obligation to make chit-chat with us (unless, of course, you need something). On the flip-side, we'll never turn away anyone that wants to keep us company while we weed the garden!

We are a working farm so sometimes you can expect to hear things like tractors, chainsaws, roosters, barking dogs, coyotes, etc. We can't do anything about the roosters or coyotes, but if you want a relaxing afternoon nap in the hammock, just let us know and we'll work on quieter chores.
