Our cottage is a cozy, private craftsman-style unit in Historic Mission Hills at the center of San Diego’s greatest attractions.
Our cozy, private cottage is nestled in Historic Mission Hills at the center of San Diego’s greatest attractions. Minutes from Downtown, Convention Center, GasLamp Quarter, Old Town, Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, Fashion Valley Shopping Mall, Mission Bay, Petco Park & the Lindberg Field Airport.
You can walk to The Presidio and numerous shops, restaurants & bars in one of San Diego’s oldest, safest, and most scenic neighborhoods. In the heart of San Diego, Mission Hills is adjacent to trendy Hillcrest and Historic Old Town. Stunning turn-of-the-century homes with mature Magnolia and Pepper trees line historic Sunset Blvd and Fort Stockton Avenues. Nearby markets offer a fabulous selection of gourmet foods, wine, coffee and full deli counters. A full service grocery store is within easy walking distance and each Sunday morning the Hillcrest farmer’s market offers fresh produce, hot and cold prepared foods, and inexpensive fresh flowers galore.
We are very close to both Scripps Mercy Hospital and UCSD Medical Center for travelling nurses, physician residents and those needing to be close to a hospitalized loved one.
All major freeways are within 2 miles. Bus lines run literally at the curb of our home and the San Diego Trolley is a short walk away. Short taxis rides to downtown are approximately $10.
The proximity to the ocean keeps both daytime and nighttime temperatures comfortable.

We live in a quiet residential neighborhood and ask that guests respect the peacefulness of our property and respect the neighbor's low noise level as well.
We keep a smoke free home, but we provide guests with a lovely, designated smoking area in the garden, should they need it.
No more than 2 people allowed to stay overnight (not including infants and toddlers).
Please secure the front gate when entering or existing the property to ensure that our pup, Lola, stays put.
We want you to have a great time here, and hope you will return on each visit to San Diego. Thanks!
My boyfriend and I just finished a one month stay at the cottage and LOVED it.
It's a perfect place for one person or a couple and has everything you need. Wifi and laundry, woohoo!! Ed and his family are great hosts. They made us feel welcome but also gave us plenty of privacy. Their yard (which you can see in the pictures) is pretty and peaceful, and there's a sweet little table behind the cottage where you can sit and enjoy San Diego's beautiful weather! My boyfriend, who was working remotely, got to use it as his office while we were there. Not bad! And, big plus for dog lovers, they have a beautiful border collie pup named Nerea :)
The location is pretty fantastic. San Diego is a beautiful city and Mission Hills is a great neighborhood. It's full of beautiful houses and beautiful gardens, which make a lovely backdrop for your morning run. You're a quick drive from all of San Diego's great neighborhoods, dining, shopping, etc., not to mention the beaches, and Balboa Park with its amazing zoo and museums! Right across the street is a great little coffee shop (Espresso Mio), and a 15-20 minute walk will get you to several other shops and restaurants in the Mission Hills shopping district. In that area we found an wonderful Pilates studio (Pilates RX), a cool, laid-back bar (Toma Sol), a delicious Japanese restaurant (Izakaya Masa), and a really neat little outdoor theater that shows old films (Cinema Under the Stars)!
Our stay was really wonderful. I could go on and on, but suffice to say we had a brilliant time here and I'd happily recommend this place to anyone!
Thanks so much for the great review and feedback, and we really enjoyed having you as guests. We have a friend staying in the cottage in February who is willing to let us replace the shower while she is staying there, which should take care of the water problem you pointed out.
Also, it seems that I missed the window to leave you a review, unfortunately. Not sure if there is a way to do that, but if you need a reference for a future airbnb don't hesitate to ask.
It seems I missed the
This is a nice place to stay if you are in San Diego. Great location within walking distance to old town San Diego. Ed was a welcoming host and gave great directions.
Location, Location, Location!!! Reserved through this site and spent a month there. You can get anywhere from there, as major freeways are just down the hill. The host is amiable and responsive. The accommodations are ample and especially appreciable is the provided WiFi, access to a washer/dryer and the fact that smokers are not discriminated against. If you choose to smoke, a lovely private area outside is provided. For the night-lifers, the hot spots on University Ave. are an inexpensive cab ride away, as is Historic Old Town. Travelers with mobility issues should note that this cottage is uphill from the street parking, so stairs are involved. It is located in one of the nicest, safest and historic areas of San Diego County...not to mention that Ocean Beach/Mission Bay/Sea World is 10 minutes away!!! This is a 5 star review!!! Consider this cottage!!! It is a gem by the Sea!!
We had a great time at Ed's place and Ed and his family were excellent hosts and gave us a lot of good tips on restaurants/cafe´s nearby. The apartment was nice and clean.
The only problem we had was with the heat. There is a fan in ceiling, but we still had problem sleeping due to the heat.
Absolutely gorgeous little cottage with a lot of character! The hosts and their animals were incredibly friendly and welcoming! Located in a peaceful quiet part of Mission Hills right near a tiny shopping plaza with killer coffee and art! Easily accessible from the front entrance with plenty of on-street parking!
Need wifi? They provide it! Want to watch a little television between trips? They've got it!
My fiancee and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! When we travel to San Diego in the future, it is highly likely we will be staying here again!
