We are a Belgian-Irish couple that found paradise in the heartland of Sweden. Our small farm (14ha) is surrounded by forest and located on a 4km long peninsula in one of the biggest lakes of the area. The cottage is in a private corner on the farm, with a stunning view of the meadow. It is for those who want to get away from the bustle of modern life and enjoy simple nature at a relaxed pace, drink the purest water and fill their lungs with clean air.

Die Unterkunft
The cottage has big windows to enjoy the meadow and forested hills. Everything you see from the window is part of the farm and yours to explore. The cottage has one bedroom with two single beds and a comfortable double sofa bed in the living room, so you can transform the living room in a second bedroom and use the spacious kitchen as the common area. Behind the cottage there is a lovely garden with chairs, table and bbq for your private use.
There is WIFI in the cottage at the kitchen table and a weaker signal in the bedroom. We are working on a system that would boost the WiFi throughout the cottage, but unfortunately at the moment we are still stuck with ADSL like in the good old days (fiber cable internet doesn't grow here yet). So don't expect speed like you are used to at home.
At this moment our small farm has a big vegetable garden (Swedish potatoes are the best in the whole wide world!), lot's of berries, chickens and bees. In the future more farm animals might be coming. One of the small barns is transformed in a museum with farm tools from the old, old days. There is also a campfire / bbq area with a shelter in the meadow.

The farm is on a peninsula in Holmsjön: a gorgeous lake with the purest water, 50km2 large and part of the Ljungan river. Here you can fish for perch, pike, whitefish, trout, grayling and more. The farm does not border the lake directly (there is a bit of forest between us and the lake) but there are many easy accesses to the lake on our street.
In summer you can go for a swim in the beautiful clear water. At the beginning of the road there is a sandy beach, with a pier, picnic tables, campfire / BBQ area, kids' play room, toilet and changing room. There is also a really good boat ramp (gravel and metal grill for tires) if you happen to bring your boat. A little further (7km) there is a campsite where you can rent a pedalo, rowing boat, canoe or mountain bikes for the day and enjoy fikabröd in the cafe. If you want to make a day trip with the kids, there is an adventure park 60km away, with many fun activities in and around the water, the forest and canopy. Or why not visit the summer cafés on various idyllic locations (like Haverö Strömmar or Eldnäset) or hunt for treasure on the many flea markets dotted around the county? Mid July there is the "lääängste Lopis" along the scenic road Ljungandalsvägen: a 47km long flea market!
And don't forget this area is famous for berry and mushroom picking.
But what about the other seasons?
Both spring and autumn are short but explosive. The colors are spectacular and the temperatures allow for physical activity. It's a great time for hiking or fishing without being eaten by mosquito's.
This area is known for it's moose, deer, wolf, lynx, wolverine and even bears. (Although you don't have to be worried to accidentally walking into the latter; they are very shy.)
Winter, of course, is the longest season here at 62 degrees north. We have snow from December till April. Once the lake is frozen over, a big white world opens it's doors to nordic skiing (langlauf), snow scootering, ice fishing or just a walk to one of the islands for a winter campfire.

The farmhouse is about a hundred meters from the cottage, so we are there if you need anything. We speak English, Swedish, Dutch, German, French and some Spanish. We can tell you all about the neighborhood, the best walks and the nicest swim spots. But you can rest assured: we totally respect your privacy and peace. Only our big friendly dogs Ben and Louie (who run around freely on the farm) might stop by from time to time to check if you're not having a barbecue or on the off-chance, throwing away any bacon.
