Come for a get away to The Farmhouse located out in the quiet country near towns of Hermann, Berger and New Haven. Gather with friends or bring your family. This is family friendly so children will enjoy a yard to run and play in or gathering for s'mores around the fire. The area boasts of wineries and many weekends are filled with planned festivities.

Die Unterkunft
The Farmhouse was built in the later 1880's and will remind you of those nostalgic visits to grandma's house or what one might read about of "growing up on the farm." It is a wonderful place to take the family for a weekend away from the hectic hustle and bustle of city life and just get refreshed. It has an enclosed sun porch set up with a dining table, a kitchen for preparing meals, four bedrooms and a living room for gathering for visits and games. There is also a back porch complete with porch swing and outside visiting.
There is a bonfire area set up also with roasting sticks and a sweet time of roasting marshmallows awaiting your visit.
We just finished a front porch deck where you can add space and another gathering place to visit and relax. There is a glider swing for children's play that can be watched from this perch too.
The outbuildings are not open for guests use but a stroll around the property is accepted. On that walk you'll find the two hole outhouse, a one room log cabin and an old log hand-hewn barn.
The country road is well suited for a relaxing walk. The property sets alone and although there are a couple of houses in view, The Farmhouse is a very private place.

Berger, Missouri, Vereinigte Staaten

Located 7 miles from German Town Hermann Missouri or 8 miles from Old New Haven Missouri. The area is filled with quaint shops, wineries, and weekend festivities. Swiss Meats, located 12 miles south of Hermann is a wonderful place to test out sausages and Bratwurst. The Wursthaus in Hermann also carries many awards for their delicious and savory meats. Quaint shops seem to popping up each week. New Haven's Astro Glass is a wonderful glass blowing shop that gives daily demonstrations for viewing. Nearly every weekend The Walt, the New Haven movie theater, features a movie. It is a fun place to step back into the theaters of yesteryear. As for the neighborhood....well we are country, on a gravel road and our neighbors are the best of people. The Farmhouse has its own space though and is not next to any residential dwelling.

I am an over 60 year old and although I held the title "stay at home mom" I have done many, many things that define me in numerous ways. Being home with my kids was a huge part of my life though. A mother of 11, all single births, and raising them with my husband who was a chemistry/physics teacher at the local high school. We were a homeschooling family for the most part with a few of them attending full or part time at the public high school. We began a cleaning business so the kids could work with us and earn money to take music lessons. That business continues with the motto "Making you shine is our business." We worked often for Bed and Breakfast businesses in the area which contributed to a dream of having a place of our own to host travelers. I also directed the local children's theater named MADKAP (Music And Drama, Kids At Play). When opportunity arose I would play tenor saxophone in the Starlighters Swing Band or my bassoon in a chamber group known as Mozart at Moonlight. I drove countless hours and miles to music events and lessons in the St. Louis area to support my children who played string instruments, a harp, and sons who sang with the Ambassadors of Harmony. I love opportunities to cook and serve friends and family. I've taken three mission trips to Yendi, Ghana, West Africa and have been trained to serve on the Missouri Disaster Relief team but have not actually gone on a disaster mission yet. I love ice cream, chocolate, knitting, playing piano and seeing my kids and grandkids. I'd love to go to Egypt to see the pyramids, a trip to Israel would be nice, and serving on diverse missions teams. Classic stories that have stood the test of time are my favorite. Patricia St. John, one of my favs, writes excellent children's stories and I love A. A.MIlne works on Winnie the Pooh. On my bucket list is to read aloud on the radio, or for recording company. Taking in a new movie at St. Louis' Plaza Frontenac with my husband or my elderly friend Bev keeps me in the movie loop. I enjoy the movies that are based on true events, historical, tend to pull the heart strings, and support traditional family values. I love people, meeting people and helping them find a greater peace in their lives. I tend to think that food is always the best avenue for that so I love baking cinnamon rolls for my guest, stocking the fridge for a hearty breakfast and just leaving treats for others to enjoy. Food brings conversation and conversation brings laughter, story telling, healing, and a greater bond with those you're with. Contributing whatever I can to that, brings me joy. We recently had a wedding for a daughter and painted the welcome sign : Where friends become family. Now for The Farmhouse I'd like to say; Where strangers become friends and friends become family. I'd like to think that the people who cross the path of The Farmhouse are touched in a way that brings more thought and meaning to their day(s).
