Beautiful and quiet location close to Hawi town and well positioned to explore the island. Loved the outdoor shower and gentle breezes throughout. Fantastic breakfast each morning. Hosts Holly and Elia very helpful and enjoyable. They have a very special Eco space! The bonus is their sweet dogs, cats and chickens
The dream of air bnb is discovering places like this. An alternative sustainable life style coupled with a great location in Hawi made this stay one I will always remember. I was made to feel very welcome despite making a mistake with my check in time and was surprised with a great breakfast that kept me full til 5pm. The room was cosy but plenty room
enough for me on my own and the bathroom a step outside was great. It was all very clean. You are in the country so expect some natural noises like the cockerel and wind but this just added to my appreciation of the project. If you are really lucky on a sunday you may get to hear the african drumming group!
This was exactly what we hoped for: a beautiful, Eco-friendly living showcase guided by two very personable, welcoming, and hospitable hosts. Holly and Eila are amazing and our only regret of the visit was that we arrived later than planned and were exhausted so we didn't get to spend more time with them on their amazing and sustainable property. They were very patient with our changing schedule.
We did get to share a little time and it was well worth the visit alone. Breakfast was a real treat and the conversation was enlightening as well as thoughtful and engaging. It was great to connect with our host on such a level while discussing various real topics and issues.
As for the guest house itself: The shower and bathroom in general is filled with orchids, the furniture and decor was earth-conscious as well as classy, and the most important part here is the connection you will feel with a space with something truly special occurring there that cannot be overstated or overvalued. Walking around at sunrise was a true breath of fresh air in a place that just seems magical and emanates good and clean energy.
The animals were all so friendly and added to the milieu of this welcoming green-friendly Mecca. You could see how the collective parts of this farm equate to a whole that was construed by individuals working to not just provide guests with an inspiring stay in paradise but to make people think about our effects and impact on the ecosystems we visit while on vacation. Basically, this is luxury living in a smart, caring, natural, and low-impact space. You feel good about staying here and walk away more than satisfied. Leaving is hard to do.
All in all, Holly and Eila are wonderful people doing great things in this world and their B and B is just a glimpse into this reality. We would stay here again and are already recommending to others.
This is a must see place in Hawi. What Holly and her partner have done on this piece of land is a testament to commitment to living ecologically. The guest room is beautiful ... by far the most beautiful space we stayed in while in Hawai'i. They welcomed us warmly, were kind and warm, served the most delicious breakfast and even showed us the local swimming spot. I was sorry that we had only booked for one night - the visit felt way too short. The clouds broke as we were leaving so we could look across to Maui. Exceptional beauty on the raw north edge of the Island, this stay is definitely one to add to your list of must dos. If you do not know ecological systems, they have many in place at their home - wind energy, aquaculture, water conservation, off grid electricity, gardens that produce incredible food etc. Living off grid does not have to mean sacrifice. They live in luxury, comfort and beauty.
