Escape the stresses and distractions of city life. Casa Caro is a well kept, off-grid, traditional Swiss mountain Rustico, located beside the breathtaking mountain village of Vosa. It is accessible by cable-car and hiking, or by hiking up one of Switzerland's most beautiful valleys. A rare, slow paced, non-touristic experience in a peaceful, quiet, private and comfortable place away from technology. Our house utilizes wood, gas and solar power (USB ports) as energy sources

Die Unterkunft
Our Rustico offers a very special experience. We are not over-stating it. See what our past guests wrote about their stays.

Once you book with us we will send you detailed instructions about getting to the house, using the house, safety information, etc. However, please make sure that none of these things are an issue for you:

1. Sleeping: We had to put two beds in the system as a bedroom, but they are in a roof-covered, outdoor, open sleeping space, with a breathtaking view of the valley. We often prefer to sleep outside and wake up with a late sun rise (we're in a valley). Also, the fifth bed is a short sofa so It is good for teenagers. If it's too cold for you outside you can also put mattresses on the middle floor and keep the stove on.

2. Hiking: Getting to the house requires hiking in a really (really) beautiful valley. For us, it's the best way to start the vacation. The hike from Intragna is almost an hour long and is sometimes pretty steep. You can take a cable car most of the way up and hike about 20 minutes instead so it's pretty easy. The path is also a bit rocky sometimes. Suitcases DO NOT WORK at all. Keep in mind that heavy backpacks make the climb more difficult and slow, it helps to pack smart.

3. You'll need to bring food, towels and bed sets (sleeping bags work great). We supply you with coffee, tea, soap, cooking basics and other things you will need during your stay.

4. Wood: Making fires is part of the magic, and we give you a free basket of wood every 2 days. But we have to charge 10 CHF for each extra basket of wood that you use and we ask guests to send pictures of the wood piles before they leave. Getting wood to the house or preparing it on the spot is difficult for us and we are careful with using it.

4. Our Rustico consists of three floors connected via ladders from inside that can also be accessed individually from outside. There are TRAP-DOORS between the floors. Please be careful not to trip over them in the dark especially if you are bringing children. Please also keep an eye on children outside the house on the terraces and in general. Also, the door to the bottom floor is a "schanppschloss". You can get locked outside if you forget the key inside and close the door. You can leave the key outside during the day.

5. You're staying at a self cleaning reservation. At the end of your stay there is a cleaning procedure provided in the guide. Otherwise there's an option of cleaning services for 150 CHF which is the cost of sending a cleaner up on the mountain. Let us know a week before the end of your stay if you require these services.

Zugang für Gäste
The house and the property is yours during your stay, feel free to use it. The outdoor tool-shed, out house and storage room are locked but let us know if you need something from them.

Weitere wichtige Hinweise
The bathroom (bathtub & toilet) is on the bottom floor, as well as the kitchen with a wood stove and oven, a table, a gas stove, a sink and more.

The living room has a fireplace with a cozy sitting space, and is on the middle floor but that fire place uses a lot of wood. The stove on the bottom floor and the water boiler are much more efficient at warming the house and at heating water for a shower or a bath.

Wood burning appliances:

- A very good stove / oven unit for cooking and baking

- A hassle free hot water boiler that's easy to use. You can heat enough water for a short shower within 15 - 25 minutes. You can add a second batch of wood if you'd like to take a bath.

-A large fire place to get cozy and warm around

-An outdoor pizza oven, so bring some flour if you want to virtually cross the border to Italy, two birds with one piece of dough :)

Cooking:

You can cook on the wood oven but there's a gas stove at the house and a small refrigerator that works on gas too.

Lage

Isorno, Tessin, Schweiz

Vosa is a very friendly and peaceful old Swiss alpine settlement. Wine making used to be their primary industry. You can still get local wine and we highly recommend it. There are also incredible stone trails, many hiking routes and flowing water streams to relax in.
