ABIQUIU LAKE MESA is a wonderful private home set in Georgia O'Keeffe country with spectacular views of the red cliffs of Ghost Ranch and the glassy waters of Abiquiu Lake. In this desert landscape of arroyos, mesas, ridges and lakes and rivers, the one-bedroom, one-bath home offers an inspiring welcome to a truly magical location. Enjoy spectacular views, stillness, natural isolation, on-site hiking trails, and access to two private lakefront lots. Explore the lake, schedule a massage, tell ghost stories around the fire pit, or soak in the hot tub underneath the Milky Way. Located in Georgia O'Keeffe territory, it is surrounded by red and purple rock formations, Abiquiu Lake, the Chama River, Carson National Forest and Cerro Pedernal. Every view from every direction is, quite simply, spectacular. It's remote location, away from the crowds, provides for stillness, peace, and an absence of noise and light pollution. 

Once you step into the home, you will know you have arrived someplace special. It offers a spacious and open living area that includes a fully equipped kitchen with new appliances, a separate dining area with a four person dining table, and 2 bar-stools at the breakfast bar. The cozy living room with a fireplace invites you to curl up and enjoy a movie or watch the game from your comfortable couch and two leather reclining chairs. The primary bedroom suite has an en-suite bath with double sinks, a walk-in shower and soaking tub. Luxurious linens and quality amenities finish the package.  Sliding doors from the dining area and the master bedroom open up to a deck overlooking the lake with three different seating areas. All you need to do is show up with your food and drink!

Stay connected (if you must) with high speed WIFI and two TVs with local and cable channels. Bring your favorite movies to pop in the DVR.

The covered deck, which opens from the master bedroom and the living room, spans the length of the home and faces the lake.  With multiple seating options, it is the perfect place for morning coffee, an artist's easel, a great book, or glass of wine.  The steps from the deck lead to the fire pit, the six-person hot tub, or the start to a great hike.

This is a wonderful home located in a spot without light and noise pollution.  At night, watch falling stars, the Milky Way and more.  During the day, count the variety of birds that fly past the home.

The home is located off of Abiquiu Lake in the heart of Georgia O'Keeffe territory. The home is in a remote area in a gated community across the lake from Ghost Ranch and is centrally located to all the major attractions. The peace, serenity and beauty of the area cannot be described accurately in words - you must see and experience it for yourself. 

Be prepared to renew your spirit! Hike from your front door on our 42 acres. Hang out at the exclusive lakefront to picnic, fish or swim. Enjoy an amazing day on the water. Raft down the Rio Chama. Visit Ghost Ranch, Plaza Blanca, the lavender farm. Tour Georgia O'Keeffe's home and studio, see where she was inspired and painted. Plan awesome day trips to Santa Fe, Taos, Bandelier or Chaco Canyon.

Stay remotely, yet enjoy conveniences! You are welcome to take advantage of our Mercado (located at The Grand Hacienda Bed and Breakfast in the neighborhood) or order online: gifts, books, cards, local art, bath/body products, jewelry, snacks, frozen food items, and more.

After you confirm your booking, we will email you a rental agreement to sign and a request for a security deposit hold on your credit card. This hold is released after you check out provided there are no damages.

COVID SAFETY. The home is cleaned to the highest standards and uses cleaning products recommended by the CDC. We follow the "Stay Safe" guidelines through the American Hotel and Lodging Association. Our hot tub is professionally cleaned and disinfected between every guest. The property is NM Safe Certified in COVID-Safe Practices to offer our guests the highest level of confidence, provide the most comfortable stay, and keep you and our staff safe. The only Abiquiu area vacation homes to have received this designation, it shows our commitment to keeping everyone safe.

For the security of our guests and the home, a Ring Doorbell is installed on this property. This system records only the motion and audio outside front door area and not any of the private areas or inside the home. We value your safety, security and privacy.

Hello! We are Carolyn and Tom, owners of The Casita del Lago and Abiquiu Lake Mesa vacation rental homes and The Grand Hacienda B&B! We are active people - love hiking, skiing, running (well, we don’t love that but we do it), taking rides on our motorcycle, and scuba diving. Healthy living and eating are important to us. Most importantly, we absolutely love the peace, serenity and beauty of northern New Mexico and deeply appreciate the history and culture of the area. We found the most beautiful spot on planet earth back in 2010 - we couldn’t believe land surrounded by a lake, a river, million-year-old red rocks, and Pedernal was for sale. We purchased our land that very night. Eventually we built The Casita del Lago on the lakefront property and then purchased and remodeled the Abiquiu Lake Mesa home. In 2020, we completed our biggest project yet - The Grand Hacienda Bed and Breakfast on Abiquiu Lake. Please check it out. Today, we share the beauty and magic of the Land of Enchantment with others by renting out our home and running the B&B to enable others to experience this incredible location…if you haven’t seen the sun rise or set over Abiquiu Lake and the red rocks, or, if you haven’t experienced an absence of noise and light pollution - then, well, you’ve missed the best part of Abiquiu. We have met people from all over the world who have discovered The Casita del Lago on Abiquiu Lake. Honestly, we are frequently surprised by how many people know about the little village of Abiquiu…how a couple in Australia heard about our home or why a guest from Spain would choose our home so he could swim (train) in Abiquiu Lake every morning. Meeting our guests - who quickly become part of our family of guests - is the best part of this experience. We pride ourselves in setting an example as honest, ethical hosts who want every guest to have a perfect experience. Because of this, we have a high rate of return guests. And this is why we continue to provide lodging in Abiquiu: meeting new friends; the positive stories, reviews, and pictures; and guests who never want to leave at the end of their stay - that is the beauty of the vacation rental journey.
