This place is the most unique and coolest place I've ever stayed. We spent 9 memorable nights here in Nov/Dec. Neil is wonderful and was fun to talk to. The location is really good, being relatively close to the southern and eastern part of the island and Waimea Canyon on the west, and it wasn't too far away from the northern side, being a relatively small island. We found a nice 5 mile loop run from the house, which was mostly on a narrow, dirt residential road. The place is exceptionally private, which was essential with the outdoor shower, possibly the treehouse's greatest asset. It was nice being at the end of the road with the horse pasture behind the property. It's really like you're in a treehouse while you're in the sleeping loft upstairs, and actually it even felt that way downstairs. We absolutely loved this place! Expect rustic and you will not be disappointed.
We had a wonderful time staying at the treehouse! The space is perfect for a couple and when we arrived there were fresh flowers that filled the space with a wonderful fragrance that set the mood for the entire stay. We enjoyed the outdoor shower especially after the hot days in the sun and took advantage of the outdoor BBQ as much as we could to save on eating out. Neil was a wonderful host and gave a lot of great advice on where to go and eat and is such a wonderful story teller. We could have stayed there a month if we could and would gladly be neighbors with him and Sharon any day. We will be back and will be renting from them again. If you are not into the whole resort scene and want to truly get away from it all, this stay is perfect. Quiet and serene (you'll have to get used to the chickens everywhere you go) but the loft bedroom lulls you to sleep with the sway of the trees in the breeze. What a gem! They should be charging more! Great deal, great company and great vacation! Thank you for a wonderful memory!

We had a very nice time at the Tropical Jungle Cabin/Treehouse during our honeymoon. The cabin was centrally located so it only took about 20 minutes to get anywhere on the southern part of the island. Neil was personable and offered several activities for us to try while we were staying in Kauai. Despite the fact the shower was outdoors, it was warm and isolated. I would recommend staying at the Tropical Cabin if you are looking for something different than a resort stay while in Hawaii.
Neil was very interested in providing information which would make our stay on Kauai interesting and successful and also in ensuring that his accomodation comfortable for us.
Indeed, it was very close to the beaches and central to other coasts. The garden was interesting and the birds enjoyable.
We stayed at the treehouse for the first week of our honeymoon. We were excited to be staying in the forest where we could have some peace and quiet. It was nice to be off the beaten path and get away from everyone else when we wanted to.
The lanai was fantastic and we loved sitting in the hammock day and night! it was incredibly relaxing.
Just be sure to bring your ear plugs as the island roosters will be sure to let you know they are there - they crow at all hours.
The outside shower was a new and fun experience!
Neil was very hospitable and gave us some great tips for things to do while we were there. We definitely recommend the treehouse for its rustic, peaceful atmosphere.
The treehouse, built by Neil, is really such an amazing spot. One of those places you think twice about reviewing because you selfishly wouldn't want the place to become TOO popular! But hey, we loved it, great location, secluded but a short drive to the beach/nearest town and Neil is such a great host, very welcoming, great conversation - he made sure we had all we needed and even showed us some of his favorite spots (the Wasabi Ahi Poki in the little supermarket in Waimea is probably the best food I got while on the Island).
rustic living, loft bedroom, overgrown foliage, outside shower. If these things sound like negatives, dont go here. However, if you are looking for private, end of the road up the hill, romantic, surfy style accommodation, this quaint house is just the ticket. We really enjoyed making the treehouse our base for our south shore stay. Neil was accommodating and entertaining. happily recommend
The Treehouse was a great little rustic cabin in the hills. It is was like having a surfer friend say, " Hey brah.. you can stay at my place while I'm away." Very relaxing and just enough to make the place comfortable. The hammock on the lanai was amazing! Perfect for naps, sipping coffee in the morning and wine at night. It was hard to leave it to head to the beach.
Access to boogie boards and some old snorkel equipment were available as well as general beach gear.
It took some getting used to cooking on a hotplate. We never had used one before and it took a while for it to heat up.
Neil was very accomodating and fun to talk with.
For an adventurous, budget style, traveller or one who doesn't want the resort type lifestyle of paying a lot of money to be hanging out with a thousand others and their kids, this place is perfect.
