After driving 3000 miles I was so grateful to have a warm, peaceful, and inviting home to stay. Taizz was a great host along with her dog and kitty. I would recommend Taizz's home without a doubt. Taizz gave me a warm feeling the minute I met her . Hope to go back and enjoy the gardens in the yard!!
My stay with Taizz was everything I hoped for.She made my solo trip to Portland both comfortable and welcoming. She answered every question she could and went out of her way to guide me in the right direction for both walking and riding the bus. The Misssissipi District was an easy walk for food and shopping, as well as the Alberta District and Downtown for busing. I knew I could have easily ridden a bike as well, and plan to do so next time.I can't thank her enough nor recommend any higher her lovely home..
I was accepted to a 2 month internship in the North West area and was looking for a safe, warm, clean, friendly and convenient place to stay. Taizz's home met all these requirements and more. I knew being in Portland from October to December, it would be wet and cold. One of the nicest things about returning home from work, was having a cozy place and a hot shower to come back to. There is a personal heater in the room so you can control the temperature to your liking and the bed is super comfy. I had 3 huge drawers/rollable clothes rack to store my clothes, a tiny desk/chair to work on, a full length mirror and a book shelf full of interesting books to read/flip through. Even with 3 people sharing the bathroom upstairs, there was never an issue. We were open to use the bathroom downstairs as well but I never had to. Taizz also has an amazing kitchen to cook in. We were given pantry and fridge space to store our own food. We were free to use her pots, pans, plates, utensils, spices, tupperware, etc. Public transportation (my primary method to get to work) was super convenient. The MAX Yellow line is only a 10 minute walk and the 35/72 Bus is a few minutes walk away...great for getting to work and exploring Portland! Taizz's dog and cat are really friendly and leave you alone for the most part. As for Taizz herself, she is wonderful, caring, funny, smart, generous and easy to talk to. Being a foodie and outdoor person myself, Taizz recommended plenty of yummy places to eat and fun places to explore. My positive experience working in Portland is largely due to having a great host/housemates and a great place to stay in.
Taizz was a welcoming and helpful host. She truly loves Portland and is happy to share advice on getting about the city. Her neighborhood is peaceful, safe and near public transportation, but also walking distance to a great coffee shop, and a few bars and eateries. The house is well kept and well stocked with filtered water, coffee, tea, bread for morning toast with butter or "house crack" (vanilla espresso almond butter, mmm). If you're lucky, you'll get to try some home brewed kombucha.
My last day there was the perfect fall day: cool, but wonderfully sunny. I took the opportunity to relax on the porch, soak up some sun and enjoy the view. Her yard truly is a lovely nature retreat - lush with foliage and brimming with beautiful birds and the occasional industrious squirrel. Stop for a break and enjoy the yard if you get a chance.
I look forward to staying here whenever I'm in Portland next. Thanks, Taizz!
As a first-timer to both Airbnb and Portland, Taizz really made me feel welcome. She was a most gracious host, always ready with a drink or a snack or a story. In addition to her wonderful hospitality at her home, she provided me with a lot of information about things to do and see in the immediate surrounding area and gave me a good launching point to see the city from. I would recommend the experience to anyone. I feel like I got far more out of my Portland experience by staying with her than I would have gotten otherwise.
Taizz has such a kind and welcoming spirit which radiates throughout her entire home. As a guest, I felt completely safe and comfortable. I was staying only two nights for a music festival, but even in that short amount of time, it was evident that Taizz is truly an all-around good person with an abundant amount of wisdom to share! I really enjoyed intelligent conversations I had with her concerning the environment, animal rights, and other topics. I would absolutely recommend staying with this bright and lovely lady!
Taizz is a gracious, thoughtful host and person. Her home is comfortable, clean, and inviting and her garden is delightful. She (and her sweet German shepherd and cat) welcomed me and made me feel at home. I was sorry not to be able to stay longer!
I arranged to stay in Taizz's guesthouse at the last minute and am so grateful that she accepted my late request. Taizz is a most gracious and helpful host. She welcomes you into her house as a person would welcome a friend. She is very helpful and even accompanied me through the neighborhood by bike to orient me to the environment. The house is comfortable and quiet and the surrounding garden offers a sense of peace and well-being. I thank her once again for her hospitality and contact her again if my travels take me to Portland.
Taizz has a beautiful house in a great location. I would definitely recommend her house for short or extended stays.
I came to Portland for a job interview and I stayed with Taizz. What a wonderful host. From providing a bicycle for rental to recommending a local favorite restaurant, Taizz was there to help. It was a stressful week for me as I tried out my new job. But upon coming back to "home" I felt that I could relax and rest. Lila the German Shepherd seems intimidating at first but she is so kind and easy going when you get to know her. The house cat is also cute and she is always around. Taizz has a totally remodeled modern kitchen. If you love cooking then this place is absolutely for you. Taizz put a lot of details to her guesthouse and you have to see it to appreciate it. I will definitely come back and be a guest again.
