I visit Portland every autumn for business and staying here, this time I was so busy but Taizz’s supported me so much and here place is always comfortable and peaceful. Also it is my pleasure to meet brilliant guests here every time, because of Taizz’s pleasant personality and atmosphere created by her and 4 legs roommates, Leela and the boss. During my schedule I finally had a chance to share my hand made Tiramisu to Taizz and other room guests, it was pleasure to meet you guys! Looking forward to staying again!

My stay with Taizz went smoothly! The property is nice, clean, and homey. Taizz herself is a charming lady who made me feel well at home. I'd stay again with Taizz given the opportunity.

Overall I would say this was OK. I wouldn't stay here again though. Here is why: -no lock on the bedroom door -not the best location -walls are thin - you hear everything going on in the house I was met by the son of the owner, who was quite nice and let me in and gave me a tour of the house. I was told that I might be the only person staying there that weekend as the owner was camping and other people who stayed there were away. The house is cute and eclectic in that Portland way. Nice garden and feeling of being in solitude in the location as it is off the beaten track. However, I laid down to take a nap on the first afternoon and I was awoken by someone singing and playing the guitar somewhere else in the house. Then I heard multiple (male) voices and someone coming out of the room next to me. This was when I wondered about a lock on the door. It appears that there are multiple people renting rooms in the house; it's a little unclear if this is a boarding house or how it is set up. I didn't mind but I don't like the idea of leaving my stuff unattended when I am not there and going to sleep at night when I hear male voices in the house. At this point it started to feel like a youth hostel. I inquired about a lock. I was told by the owner that this was not a hotel. OK, I understand, but a lock is pretty standard on most places I've stayed. Most women I know would prefer to have a lock on the door. Then, there was the issue of some sounds in the room next door going on at all times of the day and night. It was the sound of someone restarting their computer over and over (the sound a Mac makes when you reboot it). This was going on throughout my stay. Distracting to say the least in the middle of the night and trying to sleep. It was still going off when I left the house. Third, the little kitty cat who lived there, what a sweetheart! I was confused about how she got in and out of the house because when I left she obviously wanted in but I had left the key inside. The time I did let her in the day before she seemed super hungry. With virtually no one around over the weekend, I don't know who was caring for her and how she got in and out of the house. The owner and the son seem nice. But it wasn't a place where I felt comfortable staying.

Taizz has created a traditional traveler's guest house experience in a classic farmhouse. She has carefully organized her home and the guest rooms and takes her time to explain everything in great detail at check-in. She even walked me down the street to show me where the bus stop is. I was out most days until about 10-11pm so I didn't see Taizz all that much, but everything was fine. Her dog, Lela, is very sweet.

Taizz is a superb guest. I immediately felt welcomed as if I lived there. The house is a big old beautify home with plenty of space, light and nature. You won't be disappointed staying at this place. Thank you, Taizz!

I had a lovely stay. Taizz is warm and welcoming. She was there to greet me when I arrived and gave a thorough run down of the house and neighborhood. I rented one of her bikes which was great for exploring Portland. The house is clean and comfortable with easy access to public transportation. The neighborhood is charming and located in a very walkable/ bikeable area. I would definitely stay here again!
