Taizz is a lovely host. Very flexible when my train was delayed. Very knowledgeable about the area, has lots of suggestions. The house is a very lovely, spacious older Craftsman-style two-story on a lot with a lot of trees and a hammock. Taizz had two other longer term guests while I was there who were also great. The place has an open, friendly communal vibe that made me really feel like I was experiencing Portland.
Public Transportation is a 5 minute walk away. Zipcars not much further and a bunch of great bars and restaurants within 10 minutes.
Having bikes available for rent is a real plus. I'm 6'3" and there was even one that fit me.
Taizz is great.
Everything is nice, comfotable and very homey. It feels like home away from home. Highly recommended for people who will be cooking. The kitchen is great and very well equipped. The location is also very good and the neighborhood is nice and quiet. I will stay there next time I come to PDX for sure.
Taizz was great. She was gracious, respectful of my space and time, and fair. Even though my trip became more business than pleasure, I felt at home throughout my stay, with a very comfortable room and bed to return to every evening, and a wonderful kitchen for making meals on the fly. Her hospitality made everything possible.
I could know what real Portland is thanks to Taizz. She is charming, active, kind, and enjoying her life. I am sure spending time with her makes your life better. Staying in downtown is one of good options, but I recommend people who plan to visit Portland stay Taizz's house. Though I just stayed there only 1 month out of 7 months stay in Portland, I seriously think it was a good time and memorable.
Staying with Taizz was a dream. It was like visiting family in the south and enjoying their beautiful property with lots of trees and lovely big house filled with great company and great food. We had a blast spending time making dinner together and having a little dinner party with her and my friends. She makes the tastiest homemade kambucha, which I left with a piece of the mother to make my own. She also makes delicious coffee made several different ways and amazing homemade yogurt. We had great late night conversations whole sipping on some yummy brews... The room was cozy and had everything I needed. The house has such lovely characters and I LOVED her kitchen. I would recommend Taizz as a host any time, she has become a great person to know and to call a friend now. Thank you for sharing your lovely home and your time with me.
I had a wonderful stay in Taizz's friendly, comfortable home. I would definitely go back!
Taizz is the most warm and generous host. I stayed over for a lovely 3 days where she was so kind enough to teach me about her homemade yogurt, kombucha, 5 methods of coffee brewing, and sour beer! I rented a bike from Taizz, did a ton of exploring, had the best adventure in Portland, and learned so much about the life and culture there; much of it is thanks to the kindness of Taizz and the others I met at her guesthouse--David, Chezz, Mzcora and Leela (the cat and dog). This was my first airbnb experience and it was the best I could have asked for.
Thank you--Taizz, David, and Chezz--and thank you Portland!
