Akey Valley , LLC. is a vacation rental home located in scenic Richland County in southwest Wisconsin. The 140+ year old farmhouse has over is 4,000 square feet to enjoy. The home is fully furnished and sleeps 12 comfortably with six bedrooms (five bedrooms upstairs and one bedroom on the main level): three queen beds, two full beds and two twin beds and plenty of space available for air mattresses. Make yourself at home for the week or weekend.

Akey Valley is a family affair, not part of a property management company looking to make tons of money off our rental. Eric & Amy do the day to day management the property. Amy's sister & brother-in-law own the farm. Eric's dad mows the lawn. Amy's mom does the laundry. Akey Valley is a working farm. The cows in the barn and the tractors being used belong to Amy’s parents. At Akey Valley, we want people to experience & enjoy their time in the country.

The Akey Valley farmhouse is over 140+ years old. We offer great accommodations but please know it is NOT new construction. The main floor has central air but there is no AC (for summer) or heating ducts (for winter) to the upstairs. For the summer, we have box fans in every room with large windows. In the fall, we have big comforters to keep cozy. We close the farmhouse for the winter.

The home includes a living room, dining room, sitting room, and two bathrooms both on the main level - there is no bathroom upstairs. The large fully equipped kitchen was remodeled in 2012. It has a wall oven, electronic cook top, oversized refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and other small appliances like waffle maker, toaster, popcorn maker, blender and a tabletop George Forman grill. All cooking utensils, silverware and dishware are included. Guests will need to bring in and prepare their own food. All bed linens and towels are provided.

The house also includes a 26x26 great room addition that’s perfect for gatherings or group activities. We installed Wi-Fi in 2014 and it has worked well for guests. It’s usable but not super fast, we would not recommend streaming movie.

Some things we DO NOT have: cable or dish (we do have a smart TV with local channels). Cell phone service is spotty due to the valley and hills. We have a landline for emergencies and the number can be passed along to family if needed. We hope our guests enjoy the beautiful scenery of the country and have a time to set back, relax and truly get away.

Please note: 3-night minimum is required for Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), and when July 4th falls on a Friday or Saturday.

There are so many things to do in southwest Wisconsin and the driftless area. Enjoy Frank Lloyd Wright destinations like House on the Rock and Taliesin, along with the outdoor American Players Theater and great golf at The House on the Rock Golf Resort in Spring Green (only 15 minutes away).

Enjoy fishing? Richland County alone has over 270 miles of class I and class II trout stream. Along with the Wisconsin River and nearby fisheries, this area is the ultimate getaway. Within a 20 minutes drive, enjoy the Wisconsin River, Willow Creek, Bear Creek, Whitemound Lake, Ash Creek, Melancthon Creek and Mill Creek. If you want to drive a little farther, you can explore Blue River, Fennimore Fork, Black Earth Creek, West Fork of the Kickapoo River, Billings Creek and Devils Lake and State Park.

If golf is more your style, you can golf a different course every day of your stay with multiple courses all within a short drive. Visit The House on the Rock Golf Resort in Spring Green (15 minutes), The Baraboo Country Club, Baraboo (55 minutes), The Reedsburg Country Club, Reedsburg (40 minutes), Viroqua Hills Golf Course, Viroqua (45 minutes) and the West Brook Hills Golf Course in Plain (25 minutes).

The farmhouse is great for quilters, scrapbookers, and family reunions.

We invite our guests to unplug and unwind and take in the beauty of the area. Be amazed at the peace and quiet at our classic country retreat.

As kids, we dreamed about getting out of "the country" and moving to the big city. As we grow older, we realize how lucky we are to have grown up in such a beautiful area of Wisconsin. We invite others to enjoy the scenic landscape and driftless area.

My husband, Eric, and I love the outdoors! We enjoy hiking, kayaking, fishing, gardening, cooking what we grow and live music. We currently live in the Black Earth area and work in Madison. Eric is an award-winning personal trainer and Amy is a marketing and event management professional. We both grew up in southern Richland County very close to the Akey Valley farmhouse and now we have the opportunity to showcase the area to others.

Während deines Aufenthaltes
The property is still an working farm. Eric and Amy do not live on the property but Amy's parents, Bill and Marilynn, will stop in from time to time. Bill has turned into the unofficial welcome wagon! He'll stop by to say hello and make sure you've got what you need. If you are interested in learning about farming, he's more than happy to chat. No worries if not, as he'll be on his way to check on the cows.
