Backyard oasis for guest /owner use. Parking on street with Host-provided pass Apr - Dec. Winter car arrangements possible. Owner-occupied upper level of house with 2 cats.

Die Unterkunft
The basement apartment is approximately 800 square feet, has a ceiling height of 8 feet and has heated, polished concrete floors. Several windows keep the space bright and cheerful, and a separate thermostat keeps the place cozy. Enough kitchen appliances, dinnerware, and cookware to allow you to provide meals for yourself if you wish. Side entryway to backyard. A door locks at top of stairs for your privacy.

As well as the basement apartment, guests may access the small backyard with a pond and deck chairs, through a side entrance way. This is shared with the owner.

Parking: I have a reusable Visitors' parking pass for guests. There are several reserved permitted parking spaces in front of my house for residents and their guests that also allows parking in the general neighbourhood. Overnight and weekend parking is free. From December to April there is a parking ban when it snows so parking is more challenging. I do not have a separate parking space but there are some available spots in the nearby areas.
Bicycles: I have two serviceable bicycles and two helmets for use. Halifax requires helmets. One bike is a 10 speed with a cross bar, the other a hybrid with no cross bar.

As well as Halifax's famous "donairs", there are 11 restaurants in the immediate two block area; most are vegetarian friendly. Two would be described as white table cloth places (Agricola Brasserie and Eliot & Vine) while the others are casual eateries and pubs (3. En Vie - Vegan, 4. Robie Street Station - Global 5. Studio East - Asian influenced, 6. Lion + Bright - Pub, 7. Halideli - lunch, smoked meat, 8. Water & Bone - Ramen Noodle specialties, 9. Gus' Pub - a Halifax institution old style pub noted for promoting local live music. 10. Chain Yard - a cidery with kitchen entitled Unchained Kitchen, and 11. Cafe Aroma Latino - Latin Cafe. Other places are opening on a regular basis.
There is also a beer, wine and liquor store nearby and there are two microbreweries, and several pizza diners on Agricola as well as, a few streets further, other restaurants, such as the Wild Leek (Vegan) cafe on Windsor Street, Heartwood (vegetarian - Quinpool Road), Coastal Cafe (Robie Street) and pubs. Museums, the Halifax Public Gardens (Victorian), the Halifax Library and other points of interest are a few blocks further on a lively Spring Garden Road. The area is LGBTQ+ friendly.

(5) Middle Eastern Groceries - two blocks north on corner of Robie and North street
(6) Italian Market - 8 blocks north, Robie and Young Street
