I am a repeat guest and have reviewed the hosts and the accommodations before - see my review below. I returned to Raquel's place for several reasons but mainly for the following reasons: 1) the place's location, location, location! As I mentioned below, the place is a short ride from Piriapolis and very close to beautiful, quiet, secluded beaches. Punta del Este is 20-25 minutes away; 2) the cabin style home feeling of the place along with all its amenities. It has everything you need for a peaceful, relaxing and comfortable stay; and 3) the wonderful hosts, Raquel and Guido, who would make everything within their reach to accommodate your needs. They are both the best hosts ever! Nice, accommodating, responsive, and considerate! Thank you!
We had a very nice time in the little cabin. A quiet place to relax. Perfect vacation we spent there.
Gorgeous, famous and popular as Punta del Este is, I didn't want to stay there because I don't like Disney-like places crowded with tourists and cars. For this reason, I chose Raquel's place. And I'm glad I did. I wasn't sure about the decorations in some of the pictures and I thought place would be too isolated, too rustic. However, it actually turned out to be the perfect place for my friend and I. We had a great time. The place is walking distance to a beautiful somewhat secluded beach and a short ride to several other gorgeous beaches like Solis, Playa Verde, and Flores. Surrounded by eucalyptus trees, the place gives you the feeling that you're in the country as well. The place is not sleek or super modern but it has plenty of amenities (omg, that hamack and the barbecue grill!) and everything you need for a quiet, nice, relaxing stay in a country-like environment near the beach. The description is accurate: it's a cabin-style home.
As to the hosts, they are the best! Guido, Raquel's partner, greeted us the day we arrived and he went above and beyond to make sure that we learned about everything the house and the area offered, and even took us on a ride around the area to show us places to dine or to buy food. Oh, and I have to mention the left us some goodies fruit, a beer, and a bottle of a nice wine! Thank you!
The only thing you must be aware though is that eventhough there is a pull out sofa in the living room, the bedroom is on the second level so you have to climb/descend a narrow spiral staircase which could be an issue for and elderly person or someone with a disability. Other than that, the place is perfect is you're looking for an authentic cabin-beach uruguayan experience with access to not-so-crowded nice beaches but still not so far from hustle and bustle of Piriapolis (10 minutes away) or Punta del Este (30-35 minutes away).
We loved our stay at Bella Vista.
The cabin is a perfect getaway. It's charming, very clean, perfectly appointed, comfortable and cosy.
It's surrounded by beautiful eucalyptus trees and feels very isolated, but is very close to a beautiful stretch of beach that we had completely to ourselves due to the time of year.
Grocery shops, restaurant and pharmacy with everything one needs are nearby, 15 minutes walk away.
Guido told us that some mornings we may not want to leave the shade and relaxation of the cabin's veranda. This was true. Some days, with full intention to visit the beach, we stayed in and enjoyed the calm, relaxing environment in shade of the eucalyptus trees.
As for the hosts... Guido and Raquel are the nicest people we have ever met anywhere in the world.
It is absolutely worth travelling to Uruguay just to meet them.
They were generous with their time beyond expectation and went out of their way to help in every way, particularly with baby related things, to make our visit easy and hugely enjoyable.
Guido and Raquel are lovely, friendly, warm people who we hope will remain our friends in the years to come and who we hope to host in London one day.
Uruguay is a fantastic place - muy tranquilo!

Absolutely perfect home from home. If you are after a cosy, simple, relaxed retreat... this is definitely the place for you. We spent our days exploring the local beaches by bike, and settled by the log fire by night with good wine and food.
The hosts are generous beyond belief with their time, ten fold what is usually expected of a host. We would love to return to Uruguay just to spend time here.
Raquel was wonderful! She picked us up In Montevideo and drove us to her cabin! After checking in she gave us a tour of the area and we had a great time visiting with some of her family members and friends!
She showed us everything in the cabin. It was complete with anything you would need. We loved riding the bicycles to the beach and sitting outside. The neighborhood is beautiful. Very nice morning walks and
everyone in the community are very friendly!
We had booked for four days and ended up staying the rest of our trip for another four days! WE FELT SO AT HOME!
I would recommend getting a rental car if possible as it gives you the chance to explore many activities. But even if you don't get a car, you can take the bus, which is just a few blocks from the house and it runs all day long.
We did not want to leave.
Thanks Raquel for everything and we will be back soon!!

Bella Vista, like beaches nearby, is a small, quiet, uncrowded, naturally beautiful spot with its eucalyptus forest and the warm and gentle ocean. Raquel's house is even prettier than it looks in the photos: surrounded by trees, fully equipped, very bright. The owners could not be more friendly and willing.
