Location, location, location! My house is located in the a historic (and beautiful!) district, nestled four blocks from the heart of downtown, and an easy one mile walk or drive to Cal Poly, making for an ideal central location to experience this wonderful city. My place is great for Cal Poly parents, perspective student visitors, couples, solo adventurers and business travelers. I am a lover of dogs and do allow your canine companions to join you on your travels.

Die Unterkunft
My favorite part about the house is its LOCATION. I really can't emphasize the location enough. I can walk to get anything I need. Grocery stores, convenience stores, fast casual food, and even a few nice restaurants are with one to three blocks. Even with everything so close by, the house is not located on a main road, so traffic is light and street noise is a not an issue. If you are traveling without a car, or are just someone who loves to walk around and explore like me, this is the place for you! If you are traveling with a car, I also have a driveway for your use as well as free, safe street parking in front of the main house.

In addition to the location, I love the cozy space, and the privacy. There is little to no street noise, the neighbors are great, and I have a yard that you have full access to. Please note that although the yard is fenced, it is not "dog proof", especially if your pup (like mine) is a talented jumper. The fence is about 3.5 feet high so fine for small dogs, but not for large.

Please note that the house is a little older (not a brand new luxury condo!), but it is clean and comfortable, and although it is not large, it is well laid out with enough space that you aren't on top of those you are staying with all of the time. It is an older house, and it comes with many of the quirks and charms of older homes. If you are looking for a brand new home with state of the art features, this is not the place for you. If you are an easy going traveler who values a comfortable space at a reasonable price in a PRIME location, then this place if for you!

Zugang für Gäste
Guests have access to the whole house, yard, laundry facilities, and front deck. Guests are also welcome to use the driveway, but please be courteous and do not park behind my neighbors if they are occupying the driveway.

Weitere wichtige Hinweise
PETS: Pets are more than welcome, but please be sure to clean up after them! An extra cleaning fee will be charged if there are any "accidents" in the house as I will have to get the carpets cleaned. I have a hose in front of the house if you need to wash off your dogs after a sandy day at the beach, as well as specific multi-colored “dog towels" in the closet for your use. Cats require an additional cleaning fee of $25 for deep cleaning as I am allergic to cats. No extra charge for dogs unless they are an especially hairy breed (Australian Shepherds, Huskies, etc.). No extra charge if hairy breed dogs are kept off the couch, or if you clean the hair off yourself!

WASHER AND DRYER: washer and dryer are shared with my immediate neighbors, and are coin operated. I have laundry soap available for your use under the kitchen sink.

TV: I do have a TV, but I do not have cable or satellite. The TV is equipped with a Chromecast device that allows you to stream movie or music from your smartphone or laptop (if you have the chrome web browser downloaded), as well as an Amazon Fire TV Stick. The Fire stick gives you access to my Netflix, Hulu, HBO Now, Amazon Video, and Amazon Music accounts. I am happy to assist with learning to use those devices if you need help!

ACCESSIBILITY: guests should be able to climb one 8” step onto the deck to enter the home, as well as step over a 6” ledge into the shower. My house is not recommended for those with limited mobility, the inability to traverse steps, or danger of falls due to the tile shower with no grab bars. Due to the era in which the home was built, I also do not recommend it to guests over 6’4” in height because of door frame height or larger guests who may have difficulty getting through 30” wide door ways.

FLOORPLAN: the bathroom in the house is a “jack and jill” style meaning you will walk from the living room to the bedroom through the bathroom since the house was built to maximize use of space, and has no hallways. You can have independent access to the bedroom without walking through the bathroom by opening the French doors into the bedroom. Please keep this in mind if you are staying with more than two guests as privacy can be an issue!

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS: The bed in the bedroom is a firm queen size mattress with a memory foam topper. It is a platform bed, so is lower to the ground than a bed on a box spring.

Other sleeping options for additional guests include the L-shaped couch as well as the memory foam sleeping mat which can be found in the closet in the bedroom.I do keep an additional set of sheets and a comforter for the couch and/or the sleeping mat.

ADDITIONAL GUESTS: The house is ideally sized for two adult guests. Although there is no additional fee for extra guests, the house gets crowded with more than three grown adults. You are more than welcome to have 3 or more guests, but do so at the risk of your own comfort!

Lage

San Luis Obispo, Kalifornien, Vereinigte Staaten

The house is located in one of the beautiful historic districts of San Luis Obispowith gorgeous historic houses in the surrounding neighborhoods. It is the prettiest neighborhood in town in my opinion! It is also a quick walk to the downtown area, and only one mile from Cal Poly. It is located close enough to campus to walk if you like, but far enough away that parties aren't much of a problem.

For those of you who are into fitness, there are some great yoga studios within a few blocks walk. Ask for recommendations if you are looking! Although I am not much of a Yogi, my wife will tell you all about the studios! My wife also has a favorite run that takes you on a challenging, but beautiful five mile loop, so ask me about that if you are interested!

I am a young professional who was born and raised in San Luis Obispo. I ventured up to Davis, CA for college, but was lucky enough to be able to move back to the best city in America after I graduated. Although I love my job and the fact that it allows me to call San Luis Obispo home once again, I am frequently gone for business travel. When I am home, I enjoy going downtown on the weekends and hanging out with friends, golfing, fishing, and hiking. Some of my favorite activities to do in the area are shopping at our famous Thursday night Farmers Market, taking my girlfriend and her dog to Avila Beach to play in the surf and hang out in the sun, and heading out to Enda Valley on Sunday afternoons to drink wine and play bocce ball with friends and family. As a true local, I am happy to provide recommendations on anything any everything. Because I am in the food industry, knowing where to get the best Tri-tip sandwich at one in the morning is in part of my job description. I am also happy to provide recommendations on restaurants to eat at during normal daylight hours, all of the must see sights, best hikes, and of course all of the local wineries and breweries so you can wine or beer taste to your hearts content. In addition to San Luis Obispo, I am also very familiar with Paso Robles, Pismo Beach, Avila Beach, Arroyo Grande, and all of the other local towns, so if you want to venture a little bit further I can help to guide you there as well.

Während deines Aufenthaltes
I will be available with any questions or concerns throughout your trip. If I happen to be out of town, my wife should be available with any questions or concerns as well. I do not stay on the property during your trip, but am happy to show you around the house or meet you out for a drink schedule permitting. This is my home town and I love showing it off!

If you are looking for a more "hands-off" host however, you don't even need to see me while you are in town. I am always out of the space for the duration of my guest's stays, so barring any maintenance issues or needing to drop off essentials like coffee or toilet paper, I won't be at the house at all.
