Our adorable home, The Yellow Sweetie, is located in a quiet setting at the base of Stratton Mountain, just 1 minute to the Stratton Resort access road and 8 mins to the slopes. Explore Vermont's many historic towns with classic architecture and covered bridges, as well as its breathtaking mountains, rivers and lakes. The Yellow Sweetie offers stylish country living-meets-shabby chic comfort and coziness. Escape to the fresh Vermont mountain air where life feels a little bit simpler!

Die Unterkunft
Our vacation home is children and pet-friendly. Sleeps 4 people, but if you add in the pull-out sofa, then 6. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed.
The house has two full bathrooms - one up and one down. The Yellow Sweetie is outfitted with all the comforts of home, including a wood burning stove, speedy wifi, a Roku smart streaming TV, a DVD player and DVDs, a washer and dryer, and even a clawfoot tub!

Zugang für Gäste
Guests and their pets have access to the entire house, and will have the place all to themselves. Any pets that stay must be housebroken. Please be sure to clean up after your furry friends in the yard. No smoking inside, and please, no cigarette butts/litter in the yard. If you dump fireplace ashes, please bring them outside to a safe spot where nothing will be ignited.

Weitere wichtige Hinweise
The house has a wood burning stove for your use. Although we do not supply firewood and kindling, it is easily accessible right at the local stores close to the house for less than $10/bundle. We do try to supply Environlogs (the wood stove can be tricky to start), so guests can use an Environlog to get the fire started. Once started, you may add regular wood to supply heat - the Environlog will not supply much heat, but if you just want the beauty and ambiance of a fire, it will last 3 hours. The home is heated with oil/forced hot air and will get very toasty quickly by adjusting the thermostat. Please adjust the heat back to 55 degrees and make sure the wood stove is completely extinguished when you leave.
It is our hope that our guests treasure the beauty and simplicity of Vermont country living that our home has to offer.

Lage

Jamaica, Vermont, Vereinigte Staaten

You will be nestled in at the base of Stratton Mountain in the village of Rawsonville, which includes Honeypie Restaurant (our family fare favorite where they offer local, grass-fed beef burgers and sausage, fries, milkshakes, ice cream, and other yummy treats), Fran's Kitchen, which offers NY-style pizzeria & Thai food, a craft beer shop, a specialty coffee/espresso shop, and ski, bicycle, and sport shops. Also, just minutes away, is Stratton Mountain Village, where you can find great restaurants, bars, shops, and of course, skiing!
7 minutes south of the house, the village of Jamaica offers a fantastic general store, D&K’s, with a HUGE wine and beer selection, homemade fresh food and baked goods, and pretty much everything you could ever need! Also in Jamaica is a small library, a town hall for concerts, Change hot yoga studio, a post office, and Jamaica State Park, where you can enjoy beautiful hiking trails and Hamilton Waterfalls. I love the relaxed, let-your-hair-down feel of Jamaica. On Sundays (May-October) the Jamaica farmer's market is filled with fresh food, BBQ, and live music.
Londonderry is another quaint Vermont town just 10 minutes away, and is a great place to dine. You can find the critically-acclaimed SoLo Farm Table ($), The American Grille, Jake's and The Garden ($). There is also a fabulous art gallery at The Garden restaurant, and a farmers market in Londonderry, too.
If you like to shop, see Manchester, a 20-minute drive, which is known for its shopping outlets including Coach, Burberry, Armani, Gap, J. Crew, as well as a wonderful selection of restaurants such as Gringo Jack's and Ye Old Tavern. If you continue along Rt. 30 South for 30 minutes, you will reach Brattleboro, a very artsy, progressive town that was built above the Connecticut River and borders New Hampshire, and has lots of restaurants, shops, galleries, and antique shops. Rt. 100 East, which can be picked up just South of Jamaica, will take you to Mount Snow and the town of Wilmington, another tourist destination. I recommend seeing the towns of Bennington, Grafton, and Newfane, too. There are so many small towns in the area to explore! Oh and don't forget - JJ Hapgood's in Peru and the Vermont Country store in Weston are fun places to check out, too!

I am a high school art educator living in rural, northern New Jersey. I lived in Vermont for 8 years where I attended Bennington College and Vermont College of Norwich University. I met my husband in Vermont too, so it was always our dream to own property there. We have many great friends and memories there, and whenever we leave Vermont, we feel it's tug. It's just something about the Green Mountain State that cannot be explained. We have two beautiful sons, Levi and Vaughn, who are very involved with school and sports, so we do not have the opportunity to head north as often as we would like. This is why we are so happy to share our vacation homes with Airbnb guests. It is also neat to know that people from all over the planet are enjoying our spaces and writing beautiful passages about their individual experiences in our guestbook. We love to read the notes people leave! Feel free to check out our homes listed on Airbnb as Historic Parker House, Farmhouse on the River, Majestic Pierce House, and Yellow Sweetie at the Base of Stratton - all in the Jamaica area, and Londonderry Dollhouse in the Village, situated in Londonderry. Rented together, the five houses are perfect for co-vacationing families, events and reunions. Thank you for considering our homes.
