South End Marble is perfectly situated in Burlington Vermont's South End Arts District. We are a quick walk away from the lake, parks, beaches, restaurants, downtown, Saturday Farmers’ Market (just across the street on Pine), the Burlington Boat House, and our famous Lakefront Bikepath. All the best of Burlington is a quick walk or bike ride away.

The 2nd floor apartment is private and provides offstreet parking and we happily welcome your pets! Just let us know they'll be coming along!

Die Unterkunft
Like many of the homes built in this part of the South End, my home is one of the original “workers” houses from Pine Street's industrial era built in the late 1800’s. It’s simple yet charming. In addition to comfortable furniture and sweet vintage items here and there, the living area boasts a vintage early 1900's linoleum floor we discovered hiding under a nasty old carpet while renovating. To our surprise it is in great condition!

Your host Manny lives in the downstairs apartment. You'll be staying in the upstairs apartment which has it's own private entrance and side porch. There are three main rooms: a bedroom at the top of the stairs, a kitchen, full bath off of the kitchen and a living/dining room area with a very comfortable mattress on the futon couch that opens to a full size bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with coffee maker, toaster, microwave, stove, oven, fridge and cooking gear. The laundry room is available for your use and is external to both apartments and accessible via the back yard. Just let my know if you would like access to it and I will make the laundry room available to you. Detergent is provided.

Zugang für Gäste
The entrance to your 2nd floor apartment is private. At the top of the stairs you'll see we have some rain gear available for you just in case as well as a few other handy items. You are welcome to enjoy the back yard which you will share with Manny and the side porch at your entrance is all yours! The garage is where you will find the lawn furniture as well as some water shoes and beach chairs if you'd like. If the hammock is not up you'll find it hanging on the yard-side of the garage. Please put it back on it's hook if the weather is at all threatening. Otherwise I will have the hammock up and you're welcome to grab additional chairs from the garage if you'd like.

The South End Arts district has first Friday art openings every month during the Summer. From the apartment you are a few minutes walk to Arts Riot (food and events), Citizen Cider, Myer's bagels, Great Harvest Bread, Speeder and Earls Coffee, Dedalus Wine Bar and more. ‘Thirty Odd’ is a fantastic little shop filled with the work of over 30 local artists and is just a short walk on Pine. Just take a right and it will be coming up on your right, past the rhino head crashing thru the 2nd floor!
In the Summer don't miss the Friday Night Truck Stop in the ally behind ArtsRiot. Great food, music and art. Further down Pine is Zero Gravity, Queen City Brewery, Great Northern, and New World Tortilla. If you like vintage and handmade stuff, check out Conant Metal and Light, The Barge Canal Market, Speaking Volumes, and Vintage Inspired. The cool thing about the South End is there there is a lot to do even without going downtown... which is only an 8 minute walk! And of course, Oakledge Park (Manny's favorite place to swim. Our cover photo is taken there...those are her feet!), The Waterfront, and Red Rocks are all nearby for lake visits and nature walks. Two Waterfront restaurants are a quick walk or bike ride away, right off of the bikepath, The Spot and Splash. Close to the water and just off the bikepath are Foam Brewery, Skinny Pancake, and Burlington Bay Market (they have the best Maple Cremees, anytime, anywhere!). The best gelato, 'Shy Guy', is just a few blocks away on St. Paul street.

You can see the lake from our house...and if you don't mind crossing some railroad tracks you can get onto the lakefront bike path right across the street. But beware! The tracks are privately owned by the railroad company but I can't help myself from sneaking across.
Just take a right out of the driveway, cross Pine street and just a few steps to the right you'll see the lake. It's a quick walk through the parking area, over the tracks and in the water!

Every Saturday beginning on the first Saturday in May and ending at the end of October is the Burlington Farmers’ and Artists’ Market. This year it has moved from downtown to Pine street, just steps away from the house! It is in the same lot that you cross to get to the lakefront bike path: just take a right out of the driveway, cross Pine street and just a few steps to the right you'll see the lake and the Market. You’ll enjoy more than 90 local farmers and artists as well as some local music! It’s quite the destination.

Once a year in September (weekend after labor day) Pine Street comes alive with Art Hop - the largest arts event in Vermont. Open studios, music, food, and lots of artsy events to participate in.

Hello! I’m Manny and I own this funky old house in the South End of Burlington and live in the apartment downstairs. I am always available by cell and work very close by in downtown Burlington as a psychotherapist. I appreciate all things vintage as you'll see by the furniture and artwork in the apartment. I really love Burlington and especially love the South End Arts District, a Burlington treasure. And living just a quick walk to the lake and waterfront bike path...heaven! I look forward to sharing the BNB with you!
