Die Unterkunft
This is a cozy apartment (approximately 500 sq ft). It is conveniently located adjacent to Battery Park and the Lake and just blocks from downtown and Church Street. The entire apartment was recently renovated with new appliances, a tiled bath, with original pine and new ash floors. The apartment is fully furnished with linens and a fully equipped kitchen.

Please be advised, though we welcome children, the apartment is not child proof - guests are required to bring their own devices to ensure that the apartment is safe for children.

We do require that quiet hours between 9pm and 9am be strictly observed. We welcome groups of up to 6 guests but the apartment is not suitable to hold events or parties (such as a birthday party).

Please also be advised the entrance to the driveway is steep, some cars may bottom out. Use the driveway at your own discretion. Parking is "as available", park in any available spot marked 1 - 6. Additional parking is available 1.5 blocks north on Park Street just past Sherman Street.

Important: During a snowfall spot 6 must remain open for snow removal (the snow plow pushes snow to the left of the garage). Typically a plow will come first thing in the morning and again if needed throughout the day. There may be times between plowing, particularly during a heavy snowfall or high winds, when the driveway may not be fully cleared of snow and consequently temporarily inaccessible.

When the city's winter parking ban is in effect (yellow lights will be flashing on street poles throughout the city) parking is banned on city streets. While the ban is in effect parking is available on the lower levels of the Macy's garage located two blocks south on Cherry Street and is free overnight until 7:30 am.

There is no TV but we do have high speed internet.

The apartment is situated just blocks from downtown Burlington where you can experience some of the best dining in Vermont.

The summer months are full of activity in both Battery Park and in Waterfront Park just a short walk down the hill. A full schedule can be found at Burlington Parks Recreation & Waterfront's website. Battery Park is a great place to view sunsets and the Independence Day fireworks (held July 3rd) over Lake Champlain.

My interest is in design. After growing up in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, going off to college, then traveling the world for 14 months, I moved to NYC where I spent the next 7 years studying fine art painting. During this time I developed an interest in all aspects of design. After moving back to Vermont I was able to apply this interest into a newly purchased building on Battery Park in Burlington where I took a single family home in need of maintenance and over the last three and a half years converted it into four living spaces. The process although intensive has been rewarding. I've worked to incorporate the old in order to keep the integrity of the building while bringing in the new. Where I've been able I've reused materials from the original house- most of the doors and hardware are original to the house. I took the subfloor from the attic and reused it in one of the other living spaces, resulting in a finished floor with deep hues of oranges and reds. I've also repurposed materials from a local architectural salvage store including my most recent find, a 5' x 20" slab of black walnut that I'll be making into a coffee table for one of the living spaces. Other pieces of furniture in the living spaces are antiques that I was able to source from local area. Other pieces I purchased from local craftspersons. I like to think that what I (and other Airbnb hosts) offer are unique living spaces for individuals visiting the area. I like to think that we as hosts are continuing in a long tradition held in Vermont of creating uniquely crafted products; products that I hope translate over into uniquely held experiences. Hosting on Airbnb has allowed me to share all of this in what I have found to be a mutually rewarding relationship. a life motto? - what can I create, what can I share
