Die Unterkunft
Welcome to the barn, a much loved spacious beautiful home with pitched ceilings and open plan living room which catches the morning sun in summer and the shade in winter.

Ground yourself and unwind in the Barossa.

The barn is a solid 1860s structure made from local blue stone, Mintaro slate, polished thick original wooden floors and beams converted with the help of an architect and a local builder to a very comfortable home and spacious living space guests love.

The glass doors and windows open from downstairs wide to the garden.

This beautiful comfortable home has been featured in Inside Out magazine , Australian Country Style magazine and Qantas magazine.

The barn is located on the edge of the charming country town of historic Kapunda on a large 3/4 acre block with a rambling Mediterranean style garden with pathways to the front of the barn providing space from the road and neighbours.

There is lots of room to relax and unwind in and outside of the barn.

The spacious kitchen has a gas top electric oven and lots of cooking utensils and a coffee maker. There’s room for two cooks. The kitchen also accommodates 10 to the dining table and plenty of chairs. This is an ideal hang out space to prepare local produce and enjoy your wines together. Or enjoy the morning sun and the papers over a languorous breakfast.

Outdoors in front of the barn in the area landscaped with river rose coloured fine pebbles, a marble dining table and stylish black iron chairs are perfect for those long summer evenings .

The living area is open plan and large has two areas created with banks of sofas so there can be some guests watching a movie or tv , and another few guests enjoying the roaring fireplace .

The barn easily absorbs many people doing different things from resting in the lovely loft rooms upstairs and reading to being social downstairs cooking to enjoying the living room or sitting in the sun outside while you plan your day sightseeing and wine tasting.

The barn is perfect for a couple, a friends get away or get together or for solitude.

There lots of picturesque local walks .

The two bedrooms are large loft rooms with attractive generously pitched ceilings.
They each have temperature controls with reverse cycle air conditioning. Each room
has a queen size bed and a single bed. Beds are made up for you and towels and linen supplied with a cotton emphasis.

There is a pantry and laundry under the stairs. Feel free to use the washing machine and dryer.

There is one bathroom with a traditional renovated claw foot bathtub, a toilet and a shower. Shampoo and conditioner and a hairdryer are supplied as are bath towels and mats.

Guests enjoy privacy and peace and quiet as well as birdsong. The northern aspect brings sunshine to the barn on winter mornings and shade in summer. Kapunda enjoys spectacular sparkling night skies all year round.

Enjoy the entire property to yourselves located just 12 minutes drive from cellar doors in Greenock, and 20 minutes from the Barossa wineries and farmers markets and one hour from the heart of the Clare Valley’s wineries, restaurants and wine country landscape.

This is a safe haven with cottage neighbours either side but at a private distance .

Guests report the photos don’t do it justice ( even though I have used a pro photographer as well as my own photos) so they are blown away when they arrive and they love the experience from the moment it begins.

For your convenience the fridge is stocked with free range eggs , milk, juice , butter, jam , bakery bread and more so need to rush around . Arrive at a time that suits you as we have a key lock box and code.

Weitere wichtige Hinweise
The barn is approximately one hour and 10 minutes from the centre of the city of Adelaide or One hour and 15 minutes from the airport.

The two large loft rooms with beautiful pitched ceilings and original beams are upstairs. The stairwell and stairs has a safety rail in case of any elderly guests who like the security of a railing. If you are a very tall person then you need to watch the top of your head as you go up the stairs.
I have a safety railing I like to put in at the top of the stairs at night.

The barn has heating and cooling via a reverse cycle air conditioning system in three locations so you can temperature control the space . The fireplace adds atmosphere and warmth and is set ready to go for your enjoyment.

Hi there, I'm an artist and business owner living in the Barossa Valley. I love characterful houses, homes and hospitality and I have three accommodations available in South Australia. I have a weakness for beautiful stone homes typical to South Australia, that have a European feel. I appreciate natural light, wooden floorboards, enhancing architectural features and preserving what works from the past whilst adding charm and modern comforts. I like my guests to feel they have a stylish home away from home. My renovations style is comfy French provincial with a touch of vintage and original artworks on the walls for a restful and inspiring stay. I travel a lot myself so I appreciate what it is to arrive to a place that feels like you can kick your shoes off, pour a wine and relax.
