  • On the best street in town, Casa Romantica surprises you when you come inside! The private pool is both indoor and outdoor, so guests can take a dip in sun or shade, stargaze at night or float in a rain storm, all from the living room!
  • From the kitchen, guests can enjoy the open floor plan and indoor / outdoor living experience. Cooking at night with a view of the stars from the kitchen sink is hard to beat!
  • Upstairs master bedroom has its own full bathroom as well as its own WiFi router (in addition to the main router downstairs) in order to ensure the strongest possible signal and fast WiFi.
  • If you sleep so well here that you decide to buy the same quilt for your bed at home, you'll be in good company... After three separate guests messaged us, asking where to buy the same quilt in the US, we took the hint and stocked up on several more! Super soft and the perfect weight for a cool room in a tropical climate. Good rest is important when you're on vacation, and this is the perfect place for it!
  • Downstairs bedroom includes a dresser with plenty of drawer space, comfy queen bed, air conditioning, TV and 2 extra chairs for relaxing. This bed has a real queen mattress (known as "orthopedic" in Nicaragua) but can stow away as a Murphy bed for guests who do not need a second bedroom and would instead prefer to use the room as an air conditioned second den or TV room. AC has its own remote and this room also has 2 ceiling fans, a floor fan, hairdryer, surge protectors for safely charging electronics, and several books and maps for guest use
  • *Note: While Calle Santa Lucía is quieter than streets closer to the cathedral or La Calzada, it is still in the colonial district, so this bedroom can experience more noise than the upstairs master (especially during religious festivals)
  • Kitchen includes everything you need to cook at home (full size fridge / freezer, 6 burner gas stove and oven, microwave and all cooking utensils, pots and pans, blender, coffee maker, Tupperware, dishes, glassware, silverware, etc).
  • Pool is both indoor (covered by roof on right) and outdoor (open on left). Retractable privacy screen between pool and living room can be dropped for weather or raised for a more open feel. Evenings in Casa Romantica are even better than the daytime!
  • Upstairs master bathroom is connected to master bedroom. Please note that hot water is at each tap, directly from pipes (no electric showerhead attachment). Hairdryers, towels, basic toiletries and robes are provided.
  • Two bicycles are included for our guests to use, and Granada is a great city to explore by bike! Each bike has a front basket and bicycle lock for use when exploring the town. Additional bicycles can be rented on La Calzada.
  • Downstairs floor plan. Enter from street into sala (can be used as air conditioned 2nd sitting area or second bedroom, depending on guest preference) on bottom right of diagram. Ground floor also has kitchen, bathroom, 2 TVs, 1 AC and 6 ceiling fans.
  • Upstairs floor plan. There is actually a closet with laundry not shown in top corner of this rendering. Master bedroom has queen bed and full bathroom with large shower, as well as AC, 2 ceiling fans, floor fan and TV
  • The extra wide sofa and two club chairs were custom made with double the cushion height for a more comfortable experience (not common in Nica to have deep seating or thicker cushions). Your own private indoor / outdoor pool right in the living room!
  • The size of Casa Romantica is perfect for single travelers, couples, groups of friends or families with kids. Large enough to give you everything you need from an entire home, but small enough to feel cozy and comfortable.
  • Downstairs queen Murphy bed is easily stowed against the wall (as shown in this photo) for guests who wish to use the sala room as a second living space / TV room with AC instead of a second bedroom
  • View of downstairs bedroom / sala with Murphy bed stowed away. Five sliding glass doors lead to main living area and pool, TV is mounted on middle post for use as den or 2nd bedroom
  • Main living area has plenty of comfortable seating, and the open floor plan allows for easy conversation between the kitchen, garden and pool areas and main living room, and TV can be seen from all areas
  • Main living space is open to the breeze, and multiple fans help to move the air for comfortable indoor / outdoor living, even on warm days. Retractable shades can be lowered for weather or privacy, or can be rolled up for a more open feel.
  • Enjoy your vacation with plenty of comfortable seating, a cabinet full of games and a TV with both Nicaraguan cable and Netflix. Cabinet also includes plastic plates, bowls and cups for use around the pool and XL beach towels are also provided
  • Unique dining table has locally grown coffee beans under the glass top. Six dining chairs around the table have been made more comfortable with the addition of comfy cushions over the wicker seats (brought from US)
  • Upstairs landing and laundry closet. Washing machine is different from those found in North America or Europe, so please ask for assistance before using, or we will be happy to provide options for laundry service
  • Many trips were made bringing things like quality linens (almost impossible to find locally). While we absolutely love Nicaragua (and hope you will too!) we don't think it is necessary to lower expectations for a comfy night's sleep when traveling.
  • The stone accent wall, large windows and high cane ceilings give the upstairs master bedroom an authentically Nicaraguan / colonial feel
  • See the famous red tile rooftops of Granada from the upstairs bedroom window, or close the blackout curtains and sleep late. No need for early mornings on vacation!
  • Upstairs bedroom has its own AC, ceiling fan, floor fan, TV with cable and Netflix, wardrobe with extra linens and towels, hangers, iron, security safe, hairdryer, and space for hanging clothes, as well as a dresser with plenty of drawer space
  • No need to set alarms on vacation! However, for guests with early flights or tours scheduled, there are two alarm clocks in the upstairs bedroom, as well as surge protectors for safely charging electronics.
  • Upstairs master bathroom includes large shower with direct hot water (not the commonly found electric showerheads), toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, bath gel and lotion), plenty of towels brought from US, and laundry hamper
  • At night, Casa Romantica is well lit and easy to find when walking back from having dinner or enjoying drinks at any of the nearby bars and restaurants. We have great neighbors who help keep the street safe and love to say hello to our guests!
  • We loved filming House Hunters International (the mullet)! Aired January 2018, Season 116 Episode 10 “Grand Investment in Granada”
  • Relax in your own private pool after a day hiking volcanoes or exploring the colonial city. XL plush beach towels are provided for pool use. Plastic plates, cups and pool floats are also available in living room cabinet
  • Pool has one seat / step on far right, then gradually increases in depth from 3 feet to 5 feet. Garden area with real grass has 2 hammock chairs and one hanging hammock for a relaxing afternoon or an evening in paradise!
  • The garden area is a great place to relax and put your toes in the grass after a dip in the pool, and the hammock is a perfect place to relax and enjoy your vacation!
  • When not used as a downstairs bedroom, the custom Murphy bed in the Sala can be stowed away to give guests more space, while still keeping the colonial feel of the house, for those who prefer a second living space with AC
  • For guests who would like a 2nd bedroom or simply prefer to sleep downstairs, the Sala becomes a comfortable bedroom with queen bed (real mattress, not a pull out), AC, privacy curtains and TV.
  • Details like a coffee table made from an antique Granada door and incredible hand carved bowls from Masaya's famous artisan market adorn Casa Romantica
  • Custom made Murphy bed was hand built by Granada's finest carpenter, and the finished cedar frame has extra iron reinforcements and security features throughout for additional safety and stability, both on wall and floor
  • Details like handmade bowls from Masaya, 2 bicycles for guest use (Granada is a great city to explore on bikes) and a hammock help make Casa Romantica feel like home
  • View of upstairs master bedroom window, as seen from private pool during the day. On a clear night, the view of the stars from the pool is amazing! Nicaragua doesn't have a lot of light pollution, so the stars look close enough to touch!
  • The huge (4 ft x 3 ft) map of Nicaragua between the downstairs bedroom and pool is a fun way to check out where you are, where you've been and where you're going next, for guests who are visiting multiple areas of Nicaragua
  • Front door of Casa Romantica on Calle Santa Lucía. Black iron gate can be closed and locked with wooden doors open for a great breeze, or both can be closed for more privacy
  • Street view from the sala - Calle Santa Lucía. Leave wooden doors open and gate closed for breeze or close both for privacy
  • Additional view of pool at night with shade down (dining / kitchen in background, master bedroom window above, downstairs bedroom directly behind). Wall sconces throughout the house give a warm and cozy feel during tropical evenings
  • Casa Romantica also offers private cooking classes (additional fee) for guests who wish to learn how to cook authentic Nicaraguan cuisine from an excellent local cook in the comfort and privacy of your own rental home!
  • Kitchen also includes glassware, plates, silverware, pots and pans, cooking utensils, and every other detail from colanders to beer koozies. Distilled water tank is just out of frame, to the right of this photo
  • Downstairs half bath does not have a shower - sink and toilet only
  • Downstairs half bath
  • Sliding doors of downstairs bedroom can be opened for breeze or closed for AC in the Sala. With glass doors and front wooden door open, the house gets a great breeze throughout
  • Both queen mattresses have additional 3 inch luxury pillow toppers from US, and there is also a 26 inch inflatable bed in utility closet for use if needed for additional guests
  • Night view from stairs, with shades down and Sala bedroom in background (In this photo, dining area and kitchen are to the right, stairs to upstairs bedroom are immediately behind). Shades can be rolled up for more open feel with garden / pool
  • Patio / pool area, as seen from above (from upstairs master bedroom window)
  • Details like monogrammed bath robes, better towels, higher quality sheets, nicer pool towels... These "little things" can become big things when traveling in a developing country like Nicaragua, and we think these are the details that help guests feel more "at home" and comfortable at Casa Romantica (Robes can be found in master bedroom dresser)
  • Julio can help with deliveries, airport transfers, local recs, guided tours, medical emergencies, translation services... Whatever you need! He speaks English, is always in a great mood, and we are lucky to have him as our 24/7 concierge!
  • House manuals include info about how to work everything and where things are located in the house, what to do in an emergency, restaurant recommendations, and more. Julio will also show you all of these things, and is available 24/7 during your stay
  • 2 wireless routers are included for strong Wifi (upstairs and downstairs) but for those who prefer to flip through books in the hammock, several Nicaragua travel guides and maps are included for your use
  • Purified drinking water is provided for all guests at no additional charge. Ice trays are also provided in the freezer.
  • Regular glass plates, bowls and glasses are in kitchen cabinets. These plastic plates, bowls and cups are in separate wooden hutch in the living area for guests who prefer to use plastic near pool or for younger kids, etc
  • Plenty of games for a fun night at home! Perfect during the rainy season or for families traveling with kids
  • Not a perfect ping pong table, but it's pretty fun on a rainy afternoon! Ping pong set is included in living room cabinet with other games
  • Calle Santa Lucia, decorating for La Purisima (Casa Romantica is the blue house on the right)
  • Nicaraguan cigars are world famous! There are a few local companies that make them, but we usually recommend the free tour at Dona Elba cigars, where you can learn about the harvesting of the tobacco, rolling of the cigars, and sample your own
  • Entering Central Park and the tourist market area, as you walk from Casa Romantica, with Volcano Mombacho and the Cathedral ahead
  • One of our favorite guides, Angel (his carriage is #9). Most of the guides are great, and if you find one you really like, please don't forget to tip! These guys work hard!
  • Kathy's Waffle House is a favorite spot for breakfast and lunch (open until 2pm), right across from San Francisco convent and museum. Kathy's serves American and Nicaraguan dishes and they have an extensive menu with huge portions.
  • Google maps will not always work in Nicaragua, so having an offline version or even a paper map is a good idea. Casa Romantica is located on Calle Santa Lucia (some maps call it Almendro), just around the corner from Calle Cervantes
  • We are extremely proud to consistently be named Superhosts by Airbnb! Researchers estimate only 7% of hosts achieve this status, and we work hard to maintain the highest level of hospitality for our guests for the last 3 years!
