I am so happy to host people from all over the world.

Die Unterkunft
This light, airy, clean, beautifully renovated apartment (approximately 450 square feet) has a cozy, private bedroom just for you. It is small but perfectly accommodates most needs.  If you are a couple or need an extra room for a friend or family member, we have another private bedroom for one or two. Both rooms are furnished with the most comfortable and environmentally responsible bed (with special memory foam by Keetsa). The singles room has a brand new desk, dresser, plenty of closet space and several mirrors. The couple's room is larger, brighter and with a full sized bed for two. Both rooms provide a luggage rack, hangers, heater or fan, maps, guidebooks, hair dryer, iron, towels, face cloths, bathrobes, slippers, bottles (for water) and just about anything else you might need for your stay here.

There's internet access throughout the apartment.  Pis lenty of clean filtered water available at all times. In the morning, I provide fresh, delicious, organic, healthy breakfast choices for each day of your revitalizing R&R stay here.

As the owner and other person sharing this space, I will be your host. I love people and enjoy sharing my wealth of information about the city's sites, cultural places and exciting day and night life.

My space is two flights up and located right in Manhattan, NYC, on the upper east side of Manhattan, in East Harlem. Here you'll find a mixed population of mostly Hispanics and Blacks and a few Asians and Caucasians like myself. We have bus transportation two blocks away and that can take you either to the bus going directly downtown (along "Museum Mile" with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim, the Frick, the Jewish Museum, the Museum of the City of New York, El Barrio Museo, etc) or to the local train ("subway,""metro") at 116th Street and Lexington Avenue. If you don't take the bus to the train, it is a 10-minutes walk. We are also not that far from Central Park.

The local train (#6) also goes directly to other tourist sites, such as the South Street Seaport, Wall Street, Chinatown, Little Italy, the Staten Island Ferry and the Brooklyn Bridge, We are a bus ride from the Cloisters Museum in upper Manhattan and it takes just 20 minutes on the express train line to reach Union Square in lower Manhattan, a stones throw from the East and West ("Greenwich") Village. In addition, there are trains (#2, 7, S & E) that connect to any part of the west side of Manhattan, i.e. The Museum of Natural History, Times Square, the Theater District and the lovely High Line.

If you're into shopping, we are three short blocks from a large mall, where you'll find stores such as Costco, Old Navy, Marshalls, Target and many more. If you're into the outdoors, we are two blocks from the East River with its river path for bikers, joggers and strollers and, at different times of the year. boats, yachts, kayaks and water skiers.

This is a lovely, sunny apt in a (very) safe, quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Building neighbors consider one another family. I look forward to your stay and sharing it all with you!

Weitere wichtige Hinweise
I am always working to improve the comfort and well being of my guests. i am open to suggestions and to know of any special needs i may address. i also wish to be informed of any way in which the conditions at my space do not sufficiently or accurately reflect my descriptions here. i am happy to change the descriptions so future guests will know exactly what they can expect and be happily satisfied with their choice. and by the way, i have pushed and pushed against the walls and tried to make the smaller room larger, but it and the bathroom are SMALL. i cannot change this. i've also pushed and pushed the building, to move it closer to the train (subway, metro). it is a six (3 long, 3 short) blocks away. this also, so far, i cannot change. i'm thankful there is a bus only one and a half blocks away, which, if you prefer not to walk, goes directly to the train(s) and the west side. i am thankful to be hosting in a lovely apartment; right in manhattan, right in new york city, proper; close (enough) to all the action and wonderful tourist sights and in a beautifully diverse neighborhood, with good, kind, friendly neighbors.

I love that my neighborhood has a cultural and ethnic mix of people, that people are friendly, respectful and caring, that it is (usually) quiet and peaceful, day and night (except 2 weekends in the summer). My guests might like to try the famous Apollo Theater especially for example when there is amateur night (Wednesday) or the famous Sylvie Restaurant (where they have entertainers singing right to customers); the vegan restaurant ("Seasoned Vegan") and Shakespeare and other classic works in Marcus Garvey Park during the summer.

Other than those events and places, this neighborhood does not have much of a nightlife, though upscale restaurants and bars (like "Cafe Azul," Cassava and others) are opening up regularly as the neighborhood quickly gentrifies. It can seem deserted therefore late at night and might seem unsafe, especially during the winter; however, i've been out all times of night and have always felt safe. most of my young, female, single guests have only reported good experiences of people (men) being very respectful and polite, when they've returned late. Though it used to have a bad reputation, this neighborhood has turned around and become a highly sought after area in which to live.

I am active in the creative arts, video production, drawing, painting, writing (currently a musical, but also non fiction, songs, poetry, comedy). I run a non-profit organization dedicated to educating people about ways to help make our planet more sustainable, how to improve human health and how to show compassion to (non-human) animals, through adopting a plant-based diet and lifestyle. i design and produce t-shirts, which my organization gives away for a donation. in my former life, i taught early childhood education for 10 years during which time, i obtained a master's degree in education (accelerated learning) from cambridge college). i tutored math, taught yoga and became a certified massage therapist, healing and energizing people, this way, for eight years. i have a lovely son, age 41 who lives in massachusetts. i visit him a few times a year. i work out of my home where you'll find me when i'm not out running or attending meetings or other events. whether home or out, you can always reach me. i've lived most of my life in new york city, in many of the boroughs, manhattan, queens, brooklyn so i can help with sites to visit and travel directions. i enjoy reading novels, but since i've signed up for netflix a few years ago, catching up on old and new movies, seems to consume chunks of my (non-existen) free time. my favorite movies are shawhank redemption, the matrix, fight club, little big man, crash, american beauty, my life as a dog, braveheart, so many foreign films, etc. i'm a friendly person and enjoy meeting new people. this apartment brings me joy and i'm thrilled to share its comfort and beauty. i know you will have a wonderful stay here and i look forward to being your host.
