Die Unterkunft
Goddess Pele is a reason folks visit this amazing island, along with black, white & green sand beaches & geologically interesting things to see.

"What a delight that within hours after getting off the 5 plus hours flight I was able to be out in the yard pulling up wild raspberries. Yes my earthly self loved that...Warmth, saltwater, beautiful views--life is good!! What a nice change from the impersonal, sterile comforts of most hotel rooms."

writer, filmmaker

Rest, Relax, Rejuvenate.
Take time to nourish yourself in the rhythms of Nature and just BE.

Unplug from the matrix and share intimate sacred time/space in goddess girl energy while helping to support this creative womb of tropical rainforest kept intentionally mostly wild rather than conquered & manicured...schedule permitting.

Looking forward to connecting & nurturing this precious planet together! :)

(Host also shares time with folks in private creative/magical/healing intensives on & off site; inquire.)

Hand-built-with-love cabins/rooms plus a shared common kitchen, library/art/music room, and transitioning-towards-passive-solar indoor/outdoor bathrooms in a quiet, laid-back, sacred, rainforest jungle atmosphere with meditation-trails-in-progress and an expanding banana tree forest (help yourself!). We’re focussed on becoming more & more on eco-friendly/sustainable, while lowering our human impact in the world. If you're looking to experience a different, more 'unplugged' way of living where you collaborate with nature/the weather (while still having access to refrigeration, stovetop cooking, wifi, electric lights), then this is the place for you! :)

(If however, you're looking for a conventional home with manicured lawns where the weather always does what we humans want it to do, then this likely isn’t it!)

Things at this unconventional, wild-nature home seem to be moving towards another era of welcoming longer-term stays & studies, so if sharing sacred time/space together for longer edification is calling, whenever possible happy to co-create weekly or monthly arrangements.

However our paths are meant to meet, the planet needs you. The time for focusing on personal life goals & evolution is...right now.

"LOVED it here! Thank you for giving me safe haven!"

There is a sense of timelessness here, as native birds feast on grasses left growing tall so they will seed (which is why some rare & endangered wild birds frequently visit). The focus is on humans getting in touch with their best selves.

There are a variety of wild-crafted flowers, teas, & Hawaiian La'au Lapa'au medicinals growing on the land (which the uninitiated might call 'weeds!’) These provide a wild, natural harmony & beauty all its own...which will probably not look or feel like any other place you might visit in Hawaii. Sometimes families of wild pigs with spotted piglets come out of the forest. If you're quiet, they might hang around awhile to graze & root. Rather than calling for hunters like others might do, we enjoy collaborating with them, bagging up the dirt they turn over & leave in their wake...which in 6 months becomes perfect garden soil.

Weitere wichtige Hinweise
This tropical, shared, evolution-in-progress is located within rustic rainforest on an active volcano, and anyone who spends time here agrees to be respectful of others while also being 100% responsible for their own needs, safety, and belongings.

Generally awake to birdsong (rather than people noise) in this country-quirky, contemplative, substance-use (smoke/alcohol/drug) free environment, with easy access to all this intensely magical island has to offer.

What does it mean to be more eco-friendly while having lower human impact on an environment? To be with & in nature rather than admiring it from afar?

Here, like on the planet in general, the weather & its effects can feel louder & more present than people. For those used to bustling city-rhythms and controlled environments kept just-so, come prepared: this can be an adjustment. Your skin WILL be touched by plant life! And by the elements (sun & moon shine, air, dewdrops, rain, & sometimes when it’s been raining for awhile...even mud.)

The environment ebbs & flows with iridescent skink lizards, butterflies, dragonflies, chameleons, mice, mongoose, singing tree frogs, roaming families of wild pigs, outdoor kitties...and also creative/spiritual humans + helpers, from time to time. Mostly these beings (besides the humans) are outside rather than in...but sometimes they find their way into a dwelling for a visit, and rather than killing by poison or trap, we either let them find their own way out...or we catch & release. (So far, things like mosquitoes have been blessedly rare.)

In general, we prioritize protecting & respecting wildlife rather than killing it.

We have electricity for things like lights, refrigeration, cooking, but are in the process of transitioning to things like passive solar showers. There are always a good number of projects-in-progress going on, and we make it a point to try & collaborate with the Spirit of the Land rather than trying to conquer it by: inventively recycling, repairing, reusing, repurposing -- fixing & fashioning things with natural materials whenever possible -- rather than discarding to consume.

This can sometimes be quite the adventure! ;)

Things it would be Good to Bring:

* A good, strong flashlight. (Stars are gorgeous when skies are clear because night can be quite dark here, when the moon isn't full.)

* Sturdy shoes & easy slip on/off shoes. (Like most places in Hawaii, we do "no shoes inside"),

* Warm & cool weather clothing. (Days tend to be mild year-round; nights can sometimes be chilly...and if you want to go way up Mauna Kea for more star-gazing, bring clothes for the potential snow you may experience up there!)

* Whatever you like to eat. People can potluck with each other, if they like, and there's a shared food shelf anyone is welcome to take from & add to (which sometimes has lots of yummy stuff on it; other times not, just depends whose been here & what they contribute!)

* Your spirit of adventure! :)

Longer-term stays & studies with the host sometimes possible. Also, professionally creative (3-12 days), ancient mystery (2-9 days), and tailored nurturing (2-7 days) immersions.

Price for this Partial Work Trade listing is for one person; though couples of all affectional preferences and small groups are welcome. If you'd like to come as part of a couple or small group, there is a Partial Work Trade For 2 listing, or you can book for your number of "guests" here & price will adjust accordingly...(but please inquire FIRST to make sure a larger-than-single space with enough beds is available; thanks.)

Since we consider our home sacred, we do not feature typical things like beds in photos. All spaces here are just simple, country-quirky, built-with-love cabins or rooms and each sleep space comes with bed(s), bedding, extra blankets, fresh flowers, writing table & chair(s), large windows + its own individual perks & quirks (such as passive solar walls or outside deck, loft bed or floor-to-ceiling bookshelf).

Illustrated in images here is the FEEL of our environment based on what kind of people have spent time of one type or another resonating well here (with a few tip o’ the hat acknowledgements of volcano goddess Pele, + favorite places like nearby hiking and black sand beaches we frequent).

If reading this listing's description and looking at these images gives you a good vibe (like 'these seem like the kinds of people & kind of experiences I might enjoy, or grow from/transform in...') then this is very likely the kind of place for you! :)

(NOTE: this island is an active volcano, but so far we aren’t anywhere near where the current eruptions are &, as long as tradewinds blow south, our air quality remains just fine.)

With this specific listing, the host makes it a point to instruct you on your 1.5 - 2 hours/day helping-out activities. :)

Beyond that, in general folks staying here do their own thing while occasionally also enjoying spontaneous, interesting conversations/shared potlucks/adventures/creative collaborations/magic...as mutually desired.

Recent dialogs have ranged from the Hawaii-Atlantis-Lemuria connection to life as an artist to working with energy medicine to the evolving human species to befriending wild land. (Please note: sometimes lots of interactions are shared; other times host/other folks are more focused on their own journeys & lives.)

In general, centered, self-sufficient, artsy, considerate, cooperative, spiritually-minded folk with good energy tend to work out well here. :)
