We'll ride our bicycles along the Atlantic Coast from Afurada. On our way, we will get familiar with the neighbourhood, discover beautiful beaches and surf spots. When we arrive to the authentic Senhor da Pedra (Lord of the Rock) the chapel on the border of the sea and sand, we visit inside and unfold the legend of the place. After a relaxation we make a refreshing step into the ocean, so we deserve our souvenir surprise. Then we'll turn our bikes on the road again.
On the way back, we are going to observate the flora and fauna of the natural reserve estuary and finish our journey in Afurada, the local fisherman village community, where we'll taste local grill food specialties by João and experience this unique ambient with the old habits of the residents.

Our route is a 16 km long unique scenic bicycle road along the Atlantic coast. Its flat and easy to ride even for beginners. Our destination is Senhor da Pedra, a chapel built on the border of the sand and ocean. We can visit inside, it used to be open during our time schedule. Its a hidden treasure of the region, the beach part was voted the 10th most beautiful in Europe. Afurada, the local fisherman community is a unique authentic experience.

I had a great time on this tour. I regularly take bike tours whenever I travel but this one was different. The scenery , fresh ocean air, amazing bike path, and hanging out at the cafe and restaurant were the focus I feel, not historical sites and whatnot. It was fun, leisurely, and relaxing....all in all a great day that reminded me of the Croatian concept of Fjaka. Szabi was great...fun and interesting to talk to and ride with and he accommodated my dislike of fish at the delicious local restaurant. I most likely would not have become aware of the great beaches and bike path without this tour...the guidebooks I referenced did not mention this area, just Matosinhos.

This was a very pleasant Sunday morning activity, seeing an area you wouldn’t easily see as a tourist. The beach is stunning, the bike path was smooth and an easy ride and lots of colourful things were going on at either end of the bike path. The food was tasty and local. This was smoothly organised and had interesting conversations with Szabi and Juliana about Porto and more.. Thanks!

What a great ride from Afurada to Capela do Sr. da Pedra return. We set a leisurely pace stopping for photos, a coffee break finishing with a yummy tasting of local sardines and squid washed down with Verdi. A really great day out

This was a great experience, I highly recommend it ! You will be able to bike next to the Atlantic coast which is beautiful! Szabi is both very friendly and knowledgable and eager to share a part of his city that he loves. The road is flat so it is not a difficult ride. The fishermen village is charming and the food deliciuous. If you like nature and an authentic experience, this is for you !

My day spent biking with Juliana and Szabi along the Atlantic coast was, for me, a special and more personal experience that is very hard to find when you're touring around. The tour started with a nice cup of coffee with pastels at a local cafe in the Afurada, one that is pretty much locals only (it was like everyone knew everyone). We then took the bikes to check out the estuary, which offers a beautiful wide-spanning view of greenery set against the modern backdrop across the river. It was definitely worth stopping by to relax and enjoy the fresh air. Our trip then trailed along the Atlantic Coast which, given the varying weather conditions and wind, saw us side by side some dramatic scenery. Apparently it's uncommon but we had this reasonably huge rolling waves coming to shore. We also passed by several beaches and beachside cafes and ended our trip at the Senhor da Prada, a small temple at, at high tide, is surrounded by water. We took some pictures, shared some stories and just kind of had some good laughs as we surveyed the sea from that temple's vantage point. As we biked back we ended up getting caught in some rain. I don't think this is common for the tour (I was the first guest to ever experience these conditions) but Szabi and Juliana adapted to the situation so that the bike trip back was not stressful for me. We ended our tour at a local seafood restaurant where we had a really delicious sampling of local seafood dishes, potatoes, and some sparkling white wine. It was a really delicious meal that capped off a really fun day of biking and exploring other areas of Porto that a lot of tourists will not get to. Juliana and Szabi were patient, flexible, and very open to sharing stories, experiences, and a lot of jokes. They made the entire experience less of a straightforward tour and more like a fun road trip with friends to explore stuff together. Porto is most well-known for the Ribeira and its association for the Douro river and valley, and while I believe those experiences are really awesome (I'm going to Douro valley later today! My body is ready) I also think they do not necessarily encapsulate the deeper, more holistic experience that comes from spending time with people and the places they care about. If I understand correctly Juliana and Szabi do go out and bike for fun a lot, so for them they really are sharing that with others. What I appreciate about this tour is that it there is an authenticity and calming down-to-earth vibe to the experience. I get to see a more realistic and grounded Porto, the Afurada, and the Atlantic Coast through Juliana and Szabi, and I get to spend time relaxing on a bike enjoying the sea. It's worth the time and effort to take this tour (I recommend walking across the bridge to get the meeting point if you have time - the views crossing the river are spectacular) - it takes you on a less-trodden path that offers something more than what we've come to know about the city.

This was a superb trip, run by a genuinely lovely couple that gave us a real pleasant experience. We really felt the personal touch and it was like going for a beautiful bike ride with friends we know - not strangers we only just met. Strongly recommended. It made our day.
