Was ihr unternehmen werdet

Onboard one of our open-air vessels "Cascadia" or "Keta", we'll introduce you to the Salish Sea ecosystem and wildlife as we cruise through the Gulf Islands archipelago in search of whales and other marine life. We'll share facts about the different types of whales that use the Salish Sea, including their natural history, and their roles in the marine food web.

Throughout your adventure, we'll be in touch with a network of boaters over VHF radio and will plan our route to maximize our wildlife viewing opportunities.

We'll spend a full hour viewing whales, and we'll provide real-time insights into their behaviours. Onboard catalogues are used to identify individual whales, and this data will be collected throughout the season and sent to the Centre for Whale Research, Keta Coastal Conservation, and the BC Cetacean Sightings Network.

After viewing whales, a granola bar snack will be provided.

We'll wrap up our whale watching experience with an educational talk on marine conservation which focuses on threats to BC orca, and conservation initiatives will be discussed.

We look forward to having you onboard!
Other things to note
We have a very high success rate finding whales (over 90%!), but if you're unlucky, your next trip is on us! Your free trip is non-transferable and never expires (it's good for life!).

today was an awesome experience. We saw a mom and baby humpback whales. The baby was curious and came close to the boat. This was an experience of a lifetime I will never forget it. The team of people working there are knowledgeable and welcoming. They answered everyone's questions. highly recommended

As someone who works in the environmental education field myself, I always go into these experiences with a slightly elevated set of standards than the general layperson. I kept my mouth shut about my own life onboard so as to not sway the experience - and all I have to say is WOW! Excellent excellent EXCELLENT! Even beyond the good knowledge and public speaking/boating skills, I really loved the relaxed atmosphere. It just felt like someone taking their friends out to see the whales! Totally recommend, and I will be back! Also, for anyone who's heard horror stories about whale watching companies who harass wildlife, don't worry about that here. These guys respect the animals so much, and observed all laws and regulations beyond expectation. Furthermore, I was impressed that sensitive ecotypes such as the southern residents are left alone, as they already deal with so much paparazzi elsewhere. Truly - a job well done. I can't remember the naturalist's name unfortunately, but she should be very proud of herself - and that's coming from somebody who has worked in education for almost a decade!

Rebecka was both knowledgeable and passionate about her work in whale watching - the education, conservation and contribution she was making towards the stewardship of the oceans. Our captain was excellent in allowing us to feel safe and comfortable throughout the trip.

It was a beautiful day to whale watch. Unfortunately we only saw one whale, yet we also saw many sea lions and birds. The boat ride itself was fun and did make the experience worth it. Val our guide was well informed and researched. She was able to answer all of our whale questions and we seemed to learn a lot. Bring sunscreen if you go out on a sunny day as you may burn. Great experience overall.
