First, we’ll visit Kichijoji temple, which was an important center of learning in Edo (the old name of Tokyo) during the 17th to 19th centuries. I’ll explain the history of the temple and its architecture and tell you some fascinating stories about it. After that, we’ll visit Fuji-jinja shrine, where the god of Mt. Fuji is enshrined on top of a man-made hill. You'll climb up this miniature Mt. Fuji, where many people came to pray in the Edo period. I'll explain the history of the shrine and talk about the life and beliefs of the common people's. Finally, we’ll walk to Rikugien, a beautiful 300 year old garden which is my favorite place in Tokyo. I’ll explain the garden’s history and secrets and introduce you to an ancient Japanese form of poetry called “waka", which played an important part in the lives of samurai feudal lords and the nobility. The garden depicts ideas and scenic beauties associated with 88 waka poets. I’ll introduce you to some of my favorite waka poems. Let's recite them together and experience their peace and tranquility! This tour offers you a gateway into Japanese history and beauty. Together we’ll explore the roots of Japanese society and culture.
I'm a certified guide at Bunkyo-city, that administers various historical and cultural sites and green in Tokyo. I was born in Tokyo and have spent most of my life. I graduated from university with a degree in Japanese history and culture. During a 7-year stay in Holland I had the pleasure of introducing Japanese traditions to friends from around the world. I have qualifications of instructors of tea ceremony and Ikebana. On the basis of that, I created four “story tours” on Airbnb: 1. Discover Zen Spirit Tea ceremony experience https://abnb.me/2SVn7a6mRZ 2. Sacred garden https://abnb.me/ 3. Tokyo live walk https://abnb.me/ 4. Explore Zen spirit Noh and tea ceremony experience https://abnb.me/JaFeyBCnRZ I've also started new experience withTakako and Memi as follows, “Zen tea ceremony in Japanese garden” https://abnb.me/ldFOPCvT.

Wo ihr sein werdet
The area we visit is in the center of Tokyo. I love this area. It encapsulates many of the things that are most important to me: nature, tranquility, harmony, history and culture. In the 17th century, numerous temples and shrines were built there, and many of them still exist. Rikugien and its religious sites are the highlight of this tour. You’ll be delighted by the garden’s beauty and unique atmosphere and intrigued by its hidden treasures.
