Was ihr unternehmen werdet

My town is located in Air Itam which is near to Kek Lok Si Temple and Penang Hill. The route is very well hidden from the public. We will be hiking through "farmers road" where sometimes you get to see some farmers bringing down their produce and you'll have a great view of the town and hills along the way. Furthermore, you'll get to see local vegetables and fruits planted along the hike. Please bear in mind that the hike is not for beginner and you should be moderately fit. The hike is around 3.6 kilometres to the top(552m) Estimate time is around 1 hour and 45 mins for a round trip hike(not including phototaking, rest etc,) Once up there you will have amazing views of the city, fruits and vegetable plantation, 2 Penang bridges as well as Balik Pulau. Also did I mention about the fresh air and beautiful sunset?.If we are lucky, we could see a couple of animals such as wild boars, eagles and farm chickens. Every week on Wednesday there is a local night market(Farlim Pasar Malam) which is a bonus with this itinenary. Also, you can opt for a Sunrise experience although all my activities are in the evening. Please message me for further inquiries and bookings.

Ps : Durian sight seeing will be in season on May till mid June so advance booking is required.

Update : The Covid 19 has postpone the night market to be open so it's close until further notice.

Hi, I'm Nathaniel born and raised in my wonderful island of Penang.Since small,I am amazed by the lush nature Penang has today and there are places nature is hidden far because of it's fast development infrastructure.I am here to bring you to the other side of Penang that few locals and probably no other foreigners has been there yet.I wish to show you the inner beauty of Penang which I am proud of.

This was the first time in years I have hiked, so, my experience of this was beyond any expectations I had. Penang is a beautiful town and we felt so accomplished by the end. Nat is not only a fantastic host but just one of those all round guys you'll be so lucky to have met. He really took care of us during the hike, was great company, helped with taking our photos and ensured we were safe. We were also accompanied by his friend, Jenny, who was very caring and made sure we were okay following the days from our hike, due to the Government's response to Covid. We were offered to have dinner together following the hike - the food was great as were the conversations! We had a very memorable experience and I want to visit again and perhaps hike a different terrain with our down-to-Earth host.

This was a great chance to see another side of Penang, ending in an amazing view of the area! The path is through a scenic farming area where you can see local produce growing - if you're unfamiliar with what's being grown then Nathaniel's quite knowledgeable on this. The area is well off the usual tourist track - the only people up there were us and the farmers, who Nathaniel's on good terms with, even stopping to get answers to some of my more esoteric questions. The walk itself is manageable enough, you'll be in no rush so you can pace yourself appropriately, just don't skimp on water as you'll be surprised how quickly you can go through it if you're not used to the climate. At the top of the hill you're rewarded with a great wide view while you rest up, before walking down in a scenic sunset. I would be looking at doing this again if I found myself back in Penang, and there was even some talk of offering camping at the top in the future so maybe something to look forward to there as well 😉

This was such an amazing adventure with Nathaniel! It started out with him picking us up (right on time) and then him driving us to the trail. This was a beautiful and unique hike, one we definitely would not of found on our own. Please note it can be a bit strenuous but the trail was paved the whole time making it very manageable. We passed by countless farms and Nathaniel taught us all about the local produce that was growing there. He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and overall very fun to hang out with! The view from the top of the hike was spectacular and peaceful, easily the best view on all of Penang and definitely worth the hike up. Nathaniel was kind enough to bring us a local Malaysian snack, bean curd, for us to enjoy at the top. The night wrapped us with Nathaniel bringing us to a local hawker stall for some delicious cuisine. This was the best food we have had on Penang and definitely somewhere we would of NEVER of found by ourselves. He even brought us to try some local desserts as well, it was super fun! If you want a unique Penang experience that mixes outdoors and great food then I highly recommend booking this! It was so much fun and we are so glad we did this.

I went for a hike with Nathaniel and a newfound friend on a scorching hot afternoon. The heat was a little bit unbearable. The first part of the hike was a little bit steep, but manageable as I was given ample time to do it at my own pace. We spent a good 30 minutes at the top chit-chatting before descending for a good dinner. If I could do this hike again, I would make sure I bring at least 1.5 litre of iced cold water, and a hat/cap! I strongly recommend all nature-lovers, plant-lovers or hikers to join this experience. I also hope Nathaniel will plan out other experiences so that I could join him again in the near future.

I was looking for a nature hike that offered something different in Penang, other than on Penang Hill and I absolutely got it with Farmer's Road. The experience was so unique, even my local friends didn't know about it and got excited by the views. Nathaniel may not be an academic expert, but his passion for nature, discovery, Penang and the local farmers can be seen in the way this route was planned. The paved hike took me about an hour and a half because I took a lot of pictures and asked a lot of questions mid-way, and the view was thoroughly unexpected and refreshing. Through the hike, you'll see farms and orchards, with juicy fruits begging to be bit into (but please don't! lol), and local farmers will ride by on their motorcycles waving to you and smiling at you as you pant. Yes, this hike is a little strenuous at parts because of the incline (at the start, but more so between the 25 - 50% mark), but the 50% to the top is much easier and super scenic and enjoyable. And yes, Nathaniel never pushed me at any point in time, which I really appreciated. At the top, you will see views of the two famous bridges, as well as the town of Penang itself, and the breeze and birdsong is magical. I made fast friends with Nathaniel because he is such a genuine person, and we had an excellent dinner session. Transportation was taken care of both ways as I was in Georgetown, so for all of that, this hike experience is of incredible value. I cannot recommend it enough. Thank you Nathaniel for a unforgettable experience and your generous friendship!
