Was ihr unternehmen werdet

1. Introduction to baking. This will be a full on bread making experience and you will take all your beautiful bread home to enjoy.
I will touch on my background and passion for baking. We will make three types of loaf. We will talk about different flours and baking styles and traditions.
This is a full on, hands on course and I hope it will be worth every penny in the start of your baking journey.
2. We will weigh up the flour, yeast and water for the loaves and let them autolyse / prove.
3. While the main bread is proving we will make some pitta breads and pizza dough for lunch.
4. We will weigh out and fold the bread for a second prove.
5. A little coffee / tea / cake break
6. We will fold the dough into tins for a third prove.
7. We will bake the pitta bread and loaves.
9. We will wrap up the loaves to take home. I will answer any questions. I will give everyone recipe cards to take home. 10. This will be a very hands on experience. I will make sure that everyone makes everything from start to finish. I have had amazing feedback from my experiences and repeat custom.

I host cooking demonstrations and cookery school at a wood burning stove and range cooker showroom in Curry Rivel. I teach artisan baking, pastry and pasta making, pizza baking or vegetarian food. I can tailor make cookery courses to suit each individual client’s needs. I have cooked for over 25 years around the world. I came back home to Somerset and worked as a private chef while setting up the kitchen at The Firehouse Somerset with my husband’s family. I trained as a baker’s apprentice. I learned how to make beautiful artisan bread and patisserie. I was an intrinsic part of setting up a pizza oven at The Firehouse Somerset. I worked as a chef for 2 years during the conception of this award winning pub and have now joined forces with Sandpits Heating Centre, owned by the same family, and opposite the pub, to host cooking experiences.

Wo ihr sein werdet

We will be in an open kitchen in the showroom at Sandpits Heating Centre. Surrounded by working Rayburns, Agas and Esse cookers which we will bake on.
Sandpits Heating Centre is one of a kind. It is a family-run business that is more than 50 years old. The family also own Living Pretty tea shop in the Old Bakery next door and The Firehouse Somerset Pub opposite. The guests will pop a pizza in the pizza oven at The Firehouse. A one off experience

A wonderful day making Artisan bread. We were novices but due to Miranda’s fun but knowledgeable instruction we feel confident to go home and bake bread!! We would highly recommend this course to anyone who enjoys the taste of real bread!

This was a really wonderful bread making experience. I didn't want a training course, I wanted fun, experimental, interesting and unique and wow, Miranda delivered. I booked this as a birthday gift for my hubby just before Covid. We didn't get to go because lockdown began but Miranda kept in touch and we did the experience for my birthday instead. She's an epic host - so warm, knowledgable and interesting. She showed us 6 or 7 different breads (I lost count) and we came away with a massive bag full of goodies and a new found passion and confidence for baking tasty breads. The show room setting is great too. There are customers walking around, but we felt so immersed in our experience with Miranda we didn't even notice. Lovely setting! This is sooooooooo worth the money, and the pub across the car park is great too!

Baking with Miranda was a highlight of our weekend away in Somerset and greatly exceeded our expectations. Miranda was welcoming, funny, smart, very knowledgeable and accommodating to our personal tastes and interests. The course is set in a shop and this worked well and contributed to a relaxed atmosphere. We baked brown and white loaves, baguettes, pizza, focaccia, toffee apple and pecan buns, and also a puff pastry tart for our lunch. We had a lot of fun, learned a great deal, ate plenty of delicious food and made lots of tasty things to take away. We would happily return to bake with Miranda again and would highly recommend this course to others that enjoy baking.

We had a great few hours baking bread and learning about techniques. We baked Pitta bread, chocolate brioche, baguettes, pot loaf,foccacia , white buns and some delicious apple and cinnamon twists. We found Miranda to be knowledgeable and great fun to be with. Would highly recommend.

So where do I start...Miranda was amazing, she is funny, clever and made us feel at home straight away. The fact we did our baking in a shop was superb, made it feel so homely. I was even allowed to take my dog and she had a basket ready. From the start Miranda asked me on what i would like to bake and we made so much, so much that we left half the goodies for the staff in the shop to tuck into . I would definitely take the knowledge back home with me and I cant wait to go back and make pork pies and scotch eggs . Amazing treat for my partners 50th birthday.
