Was ihr unternehmen werdet
This is a guided safari through the beautiful meadow country north of Truckee, stopping at mysterious Native American petroglyph and hidden village sites, along the way to our ultimate destination, soothing hot springs in the Sierra Valley.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about your SUV and Off Highway Vehicle driving, as you drive your own vehicle in convoy with an experienced guide and other guests. The roads and trails in this area vary in difficulty, so this is your chance to learn your vehicle's limits, or to simply cruise along a pleasant backwoods road. Where we go is up to you, with guidance, as we promise not to let you get in over your head!
We will be stopping frequently to view the local sites. Historic Basque tree carvings, Native American village sites, and ancient rock carvings (petroglyphs) are some of our destinations, but we can also stop for a quick swim, to photograph the wildflowers, to test our 4x4 on an obstacle, or otherwise explore wherever the trails bring us.
We could spend a lifetime exploring this area, and still enjoy new, unique sights. Please join us for our next trip!
Other things to note
This is not a drive on smooth, paved roads. The roads in this area are mostly dirt, and can be dusty and bumpy (although I try to minimize both; I don't like dust either). Arrive with a full tank of gas and a willingness to explore.

Your guide, Rich Cross, has obsessively explored the northern Sierra Nevada and deserts of Western Nevada for over 30 years, getting out on the trails several times a week. He is Field Trip Director with the Nevada County Gem & Mineral Society and a volunteer with Tahoe National Forest, helping their archaeological team find new sites. He is a master of the backcountry, capable of navigating in pretty much any conditions, completely comfortable both off trail and on, rain or shine, night or day. Mr. Cross has also had extra training in wilderness-specific first aid.

Wo ihr sein werdet
Where we stop is up to the participants, but our goal is the Sierra Hot Springs, about 25 miles north of Truckee. We will drive generally north along historic Henness Pass Road and Emigrant Trail, passing Stampede and Sardine Valleys on our way to Kyburz Flat. This drive has several stops, as we take in the great views, examine Basque tree carvings, and explore a hidden Native American petroglyph site. The hot springs are an easy 20min. away.
