Our guide was Lan. Everything from the booking to the actual experience was great. Lan was quick in all her communication and it was easy to follow her instruction for the meeting place. I like that we took a local bus to the village, which made it more interesting. After a cup of tea and little introduction, we give it a try to make our own piece of pottery that we can take home as a nice souvenir. While our pieces dried we had a small tour of the place and learned about each step of pottery making and local traditions. After finishing our pottery with paint we took a little stroll in narrow streets and alleyways of the village and end our day in the house of a local family who open its doors for us to have a very authentic experience. We made some spring rolls together and enjoyed a delicious meal before returning back to Hanoi. This is a family-friendly experience and we strongly recommend it to any Hanoi visitor.

A fun and educational day in Hanoi. Ken is a fantastic host speaking perfect English and surprising us with history knowledge and jokes! We highly recommend going along with him as he is well known in the area and will be able to give you an authentic experience. We took a local bus to the Bat Tràng Village. Upon arriving, we walked through the markets and learned the process of making large vessels, painting and seeing the ancient “Dragon” kiln. We were able to get involved and made a few pieces of our own (with help from our teacher). One piece is included in the tour package, any extra pieces you want can be taken for an additional cost. Having lunch in the local restaurant was a great add-on as we got to watch the banh cuon being made and then we enjoyed eating them immediately afterwards

My friends and I had a wonderful day in Bát Tràng! If you’re staying for longer than three days in Hanoi, I definitely suggest taking a break from the hustle of the city and visiting a smaller town like Bát Tràng. The day includes a tour of an ancient kiln, making your own ceramics, walking in the tiny alleyways of the town, lunch, and a tour through the ceramic market where you can find locally produced ceramics for a very low cost. Our hosts were so lovely and very knowledgeable. We would definitively recommend this experience!

It was a very awesome trip to the pottery village in Hanoi! Son and a local guide told us a lot about the history of pottery and showed us some very local workshops that still produce everything with their hands. Later we had the chance to create our own mug or something that goes in the direction of beeing a mug :D It was so much fun! In the afternoon we tasted a variety of very lovely teas in a cozy tea shop owned by a very friendly local. Here we learned so much about tea leafs and all the stuff you need to make a delicious tea. It was a very relaxed atmosphere and the taste of the different teas was just amazing! So all in all, I would definitely recommend this trip and if you're looking for something local and very special without masses of tourists, then this is exactly your trip!
