Was ihr unternehmen werdet

My experience allows you to get up close and personal with a live and active kombucha brew, from start to finish! You will come to see (and feel if you like :)) what a healthy SCOBY pellicle looks like and observe the signs of successful fermentation at varying stages of the process.

Because the experience should reflect what it's really like to homebrew kombucha, we will start with an entire gallon of kombucha that is ready to be bottled and flavored (second fermentation). You will be working with 2-3 different flavors and ladling some of the kombucha into Grolsch-style bottles. While the sweet tea steeps, you will sample a range of flavored and non-flavored kombucha made using different tea bases (black tea, oolong or green tea).

The experience ends with us putting together a new kombucha brew (first fermentation) which entails me explaining the steps and you pouring in the water, sweet tea, SCOBY and starter liquid, before covering the brew properly.

Each guest will leave our session with a kombucha starter kit that includes loose-leaf organic black tea, organic cane sugar, one SCOBY pellicle and 2 cups of kombucha starter to start your own brew (instructional handouts included). More importantly, you will have the confidence and foundational knowledge to brew kombucha in your own home.

Wo ihr sein werdet

You will arrive at my home in suburban Chandler and we will have the workshop in my kitchen. There will be quite a bit of standing around the kitchen island to observe and bottle the kombucha brew, which is why I'm keeping the maximum head count at three persons for everyone's comfort. However, I'm willing to host family/friend groups up to a maximum of six adults. You will be able to sit and relax more during the sampling portion of my workshop.

This Kombucha class was fantastic! I will highly recommend it to others. Norah had so much knowledge gained from her own experiences with making different flavors of kombucha, and she has figured out how to explain the process in an easy to understand manner. She was very patient with all the questions we had and never made us feel hurried. At the end we got to sit down and enjoy 6 different flavors of kombucha that she had previously made. I was pleasantly surprised. Each flavor was better than anything I've ever bought in a store. We each came home with a scoby and detailed directions on how to start our first kombucha. There are still a few supplies that I need, like a gallon jar to do the first ferment in, tea, flavorings and smaller kombucha bottles to flavor and do the second ferment in. I'm really excited to get started!

We had a great time with Norah. She was super knowledgeable about Kombucha and we enjoyed the hands-on experience! We also got to try some fun flavors I've never had before- my favorite was the lychee! Thank you again, Norah!

I enjoyed the Kombucha class. Nora prepared a SCOBY for me to bring home on the airplane. With the written instructions, I was able to start my first brew when I got home. I have confidence I can figure out how to brew my own Kombucha.

Was du mitbringen solltest

A half-gallon or gallon-sized jar with a screw-on lid to take your SCOBY and starter liquid home (if not, the SCOBY can go in a zip-lock bag and the starter liquid in a separate glass bottle)

For out-of-town visitors who are flying, you will receive your SCOBY and starter liquid in a heat-sealed FoodSaver bag to pack in your check-in luggage.
