Was ihr unternehmen werdet
We will meet close to Wawel Castle where we will set up the bikes and have a chance to get used to them before setting off. From there we will join the relaxed cycle path that runs along the Vistula River, on our way to discover the secret locations of Steven Spielberg's film. We will ride along the river towards the area of Podgórze; the site of the Jewish Ghetto during the Nazi Occupation of World War 2. We will explore the little known park away from the river that was used for the famous scene in the film where Oscar Shindler spots the girl in the red dress. We will also have the opportunity to see fragments of the ghetto wall. From there we head further south and into the Płaszów Labour camp that was recreated during the film. We will cycle through the park that now stands in it's place where we will see the Bell Gardens of Peace, before stopping by the building that featured in the film as the commandants house. We will then see the 'real' commandants house before heading to the top of Mount Krakus with views across the city. Next, we will cycle past the Shindler enamel factory before stopping at the Square of the Heroes of the Ghetto, where the Eagle Pharmacy still stands. Finally we visit parts of Kazimierz that were used in the film to portray the Ghetto. We then head back towards the river path and back to the starting point.
Since moving to Poland five years ago I have been exploring Krakow and beyond by bicycle. I have written and photographed my extensive adventures around the South of Poland for blogs as well as magazines and journals. I have been organising road cycling trips for the past four years and have hosted guests from all around the world. Frustrated that the majority of these trips could only be done by people with high fitness levels; I was excited by the prospects of electric assist bikes that make the hardest bike rides easy for a person with average fitness. Since my first visit to Kraków 15 years ago; I am in the unique position that I have experienced the city as both a tourist with fresh eyes and a thirst for knowledge as well as a local resident who understands what is happening in local life.

Wo ihr sein werdet
Originally intended as a forced labour camp, the Płaszów concentration camp was constructed on the grounds of two former Jewish cemeteries. It was populated with prisoners during the liquidation of the Kraków Ghetto. It was popularised in Steven Spielberg's film Schindler's List which showed some of the atrocities that took place there. We will explore the park in it's place and I will share some local and controversial knowledge about the area.
